내가 뽑은 독재자_화가 난 화가   김윤환의 기표드로잉

윤석열이 취임하면서 대한민국은 재난에 빠졌다. 합법적으로. 어리석은 기대와 민주적인 절차로 뽑힌 윤석열은 히틀러처럼 완벽한 독재자로 그 정체를 드러냈다. 나라는 엉망진창이 되었다. 한국사회는 충격에 빠졌고 나 또한 심한 좌절과 분노를 느꼈다. 참다못해 나도 이젠 뭐라도 해야지 싶어 오래 쉬었던 그림을 다시 시작했다. 붓 대신 투표도장을 선택했다. 민주적인 절차라도 독재자가 나올 수 있다는 제도적 불완전함. 그럼에도 아직 또 다른 민주적 대안을 찾지 못한 우리에겐 투표참여가 중요하다고 말하고 싶었다. 합법적 재난을 더 이상 만들지 않아야 한다.

#기표드로잉 ● 대한민국의 대선, 총선, 지선 등 각종선거에서 유권자들이 투표할 때 사용하는 도장을 이용하여 그린 그림을 말한다. ■ 김윤환

When Yoon Seok-yeol took office, South Korea fell into disaster—egally. Elected through misguided expectations and democratic procedures, Yoon soon revealed his true nature as a perfect dictator, much like Hitler. The country spiraled into chaos. Korean society was stunned, and I, too, felt a profound sense of frustration and anger. Unable to sit idly by any longer, I decided to take action. I returned to painting, something I had set aside for years. But instead of picking up a brush, I chose a ballot stamp. This was my way of reflecting on the institutional flaws that allow a dictator to rise to power, even through democratic processes. Despite these imperfections, I wanted to emphasize the importance of participating in elections. We have yet to discover a true democratic alternative, but we must not stop striving for one. We cannot afford to create another legal disaster.

#Ballot Stamp Drawing ● The ballot stamp drawing refers to an image created using the stamp that voters use when participating in various elections in Korea, such as presidential elections, general elections, and local elections. Rather than being hand-drawn, the image is produced by repeatedly stamping the ballot stamp onto the paper. ■ Kim Youn-hoan
