순간의 피드백 Momentary sounds

조용한 작업실에 슥슥 목탄 내리긋는 소리만 들린다. 청각적인 부분만 남는 집중의 시간... 경계없이 넘나드는 생각들이 맞물린다. 내면의 소리들이 부딪혀 가슴 속 깊이 에너지가 일어난다. 내 주변 일상의 풍경이 작업의 일부로 녹아 견고해진다. ● 도시를 이루는 많은 조형이미지, 건물의 외관, 거리의 온도와 색깔, 지나가는 사람들의 움직임, 부서짐과 생성이 반복되는 땅, 자연과 인공의 숲... 주변에 보이는 일상의 풍경들이 작업의 소재가 되며 풍경을 통해 체화하는 많은 감정들을 드로잉으로 표출한다.

본인이 그리는 풍경은 재현적인 이미지가 대부분 해체되고 재조합되며 머릿속 상상의 것들로 혼합되어 채워질 때가 많다. 원칙이 강조되는 삶에 틀을 깨어 감정을 표출하는 것처럼, 감정을 배제한 채 쏟아낸 말과 같이 무심하고 때로는 과감하게 계산되지 않은 선들로 즉흥적이고 추상적인 형태로 표출된다. 복잡하게 얽혀있지만 단순하게 보이기도 하는 풍경은 본인의 강박과 불안을 투명하게 한다. 버릴 것 하나 없이 기록하듯 그어 내린 선들은 순간에 반응하며 풀어낸 내 마음의 풍경인 것이다.

매일 보는 풍경과 그 속의 사물들은 과거 경험했던 많은 일들을 촉발되게 하며 작업내내 머릿속에 머문다. 심상 속 이미지들이 휘발되기 전에 빠른 속도로 그리기와 지우기를 반복하고 연상되는 단어들을 메모한다. 이 단어들은 본인의 상상력과 기억을 자극하여 작업의 일부로 표출되기도 작품의 제목이 되기도 한다. ■ 김승현

Only the sound of charcoal scratching softly fills the quiet studio. It's a time of focus where only the sense of hearing is keenly alert. Thoughts wander without boundaries and intertwine. The inner voices interact, giving rise to energy deep in my chest. The everyday scenes around me merge with my work, crystallizing there. ● The many sculptural images forming the city, the exteriors of buildings, the temperature and colors of the streets, the movements of passersby, the land where destruction and creation repeat, forests of both natural and artificial... The everyday sceneries that I see become the subjects of my work, and through the landscapes, I express a multitude of emotions that I internalize, in my drawings. ● Most of the landscapes I draw undergo a process where representational images are deconstructed and reassembled, often filled with elements from my imagination. Just as breaking the mold in a life where principles are emphasized to express emotions, or as words are poured out with indifference, sometimes daringly, my work is expressed in spontaneous and abstract forms with lines that are not calculated. The seemingly simple, yet intricately intertwined landscape transparently mirrors my obsessions and anxieties. The lines drawn as if recording every single thing are a reflection of my inner landscape, responding to the moment. ● The landscapes and the objects within them that I see every day trigger many past experiences and linger in my mind throughout my work. I quickly sketch images in my mind and erase them before they fade, jotting down associated words. These words stimulate my imagination and memory, sometimes becoming a part of my work or the title of my work. ■ Seung-Hyun Kim
