시간의 메아리 Echoes of Time

Echoes of Time ● 인생이라는 시간을 살아오면서 우리는 수많은 선택의 순간을 맞이해왔고, 어쩔 수 없는 머뭇거림으로 그 주위를 서성거리기도 했다. 어떤 선택은 희망과 기다림의 시간을 채워나가면서 자신이 꿈꾸었던 행복과 성취감을 맛보게도 했고, 때로는 여러 난관에 넘어져 깊은 상처와 상실감으로 방황의 나날을 보내게도 했을 것이다. 선택되지 못한 것들은 그것대로 가슴 깊은 곳에 남아 아쉬움과 그리움, 후회로 떠돌고 있기도 했고 새로운 희망의 씨앗으로 자라나기도 했을 것이다. 삶이란 어떤 선택을 하든 한줌의 후회를 남길 수밖에 없겠지만...... ● 우리 삶의 궤적은 편린으로 끝나지 않고 그 형태와 빛깔이 또 다른 삶으로 번져 나가고, 잠시 스치거나 머물렀던 공간과 장소에 흔적과 기억으로 남아 있다. 살아온 시간들은 흔적 없이 사라지거나 지워지지 않고, 오랫동안 주위를 맴돌다 메아리처럼 퍼져나가 또 다른 존재의 공명을 울릴 것이다. ● 이번 개인전 작업에서는 이러한 삶의 무늬들을 우리들이 익히 알고 있는 톰과 제리, 돈키호테, 피노키오 같은 친숙한 주인공들을 모티브로 삼아 실체와 그림자 관계를 은유적으로 표현해 보았다. 그림자는 단지 빛에 의해 생기는 그림자로서만이 아닌 우리들 가슴 속 깊은 곳으로부터 퍼져 나오는 메아리로서 지난 날의 기억, 생각, 희망, 꿈, 그리움 같은 것을 상징한다. 실체와 그림자의 관계 속에서 파생되는 이면의 이야기들을 우리 삶에 빗대어 투영한 이번 작품전이 현실을 충실히 살아가는 사람들에게 웃음과 작은 위로로 전해지기를 바라본다. Echoes of Time ● While living a life, we make a lot of decisions and sometimes hesitate to do so just staying around them. Some of those decisions let us feel happiness and a sense of accomplishment, filling the time with hopes, and others lead us to suffer from hurts and losses, stumbling on unexpected hardships. The given-up decisions might stay within us in the names of pity, yearning and regrets and also grow in the form of seeds of hope. 'Life' seems to leave some kind of regrets even on the decisions we make very carefully. ● The track of our life doesn't end as a part of it, but is transferred into another portion of the life and also left where we stayed shortly as 'trace' and 'memory'. The time we live never disappears or is removed, but revolves around, finally resonates other beings like an echo. ● This solo exhibition invites very familiar characters such as "Tom and Jerry", "Don Quixote" and "Pinocchio" to express the patterns of our life described above; to show the relation between 'reality' and 'shadow' in a metaphoric way. 'Shadow' is not only referred to what is made by light, but what is resonated from deep in our hearts as an echo, symbolizing memories, thoughts, hopes, dreams, yearning on the past. I hope this exhibition, which insinuates our life by telling indirect stories deriving from relation of 'reality and shadow', can give a light smile and a humble comfort to people who live their today faithfully.
