두 번째 얼굴 The second face

나는 늘 새로운 형태와 사투를 벌이기 위해 여러 가지 자료와 정보를 취합하고 그것들을 토대로 새로움에 쉼 없이 도전했다. 그런데 참 재미있게도 그 새로운 작품들의 대다수가 결국 나 자신의 모습을 담아낸다는 것을 알게 되었다. 그것은 다시 말해, 모든 작품이 손에 의해 그 형(形)을 이루지만 그 결과물은 그 작가의 정신과 마음을 담아낸다는 것을 의미한다는 것을 알았다. 새로운 표현에 결코 주저 하지 않으면서도 언제나 한결같은 느낌의 안정감은 늘 자연을 동경하며 자연스러움을 추구한 이런 의식이 나의 모든 작업에 오롯이 표현되었다. ■ 최미정

I have been challenged ceaselessly to be struggling to make the new form on the basis of collecting various data and information. But it was so interesting that I realized that the majority of the new works eventually contained my own image. In other words, I realized that while all works are formed by hands of artist, their results mean that they capture the spirit and mind of the artist. I have not hesitated to express in new forms, but I have always felt the sense of stability that I always yearn for nature, and this consciousness which pursue naturalness was expressed in all my works. ■ CHOIMIJUNG
