물은 생명이다.Water is Life

세찬 파도가 몰아치다가 물이 빠지면 드러나는 바닥. 거기에 서식하는 생명체들을 볼 수 있다. 또 물이 밀려들어온다 어떤 날은 물때를 잘 만나서 파도가 잠잠해지는 시기에 찾아간 바다가에는 비교적 파도의 영향을 받지 않는 고요한 물속 장면을 볼 수 있다. 우리나라 연안 바닷가에서 흔하게 볼 수 있는 생명체들을 그림의 소재로 주목했다. 군락을 이루고 사는 따개비. 조개류. 굴 . 미역. 해초류.. 산호초. 군소와 군소알.등 노란색 국수의 긴 가닥이 실타래처럼 엉켜있는 것은 군소의 알이었고 그 옆에서 군소가 숨어서 알을 지키고 있었다. 생명체는 계속 이어지고 있고 그곳에는 항상 물이 있었다. ■ 한경혜

When the water recedes beneath a rising wave the sea floor is exposed. You can see living creatures there. Water is pouring in again. On other day, when the waves are quiet, you can contemplate the stillness of the sea. The creatures that can most commonly be seen On the coast of Korea were adopted as the subject of this painting : barnacles in their small communities, shellfish, oysters, seaweeds, coral reefs, sea hares with their eggs that form like long yellow strands of noodles, tangled together. The Sea Hare was hiding near its roe, keeping watch over them. Life continued, and there was always water in that place. ■ Han, Kyounghye
