임동식 에디션 DONGSIK RIM EDITIONS

갤러리 닷에서는 현대미술의 대중화와 다양성을 소개하는 일환으로 에디션 작품을 지속적으로 제작하고자 합니다. 그 첫 번째 에디션 작품으로 지난 5월, 갤러리 닷 개관전에 소개된 임동식의 '고개 숙인 꽃에 대한 인사' 시리즈를 선정하였습니다.

임동식의 '고개 숙인 꽃에 대한 인사' 시리즈는 전시 당시, 과분할 정도로 많은 분의 사랑과 관심을 받았고, 여러분들의 호응에 힘입어, 이를 에디션 작품으로 제작하게 되었습니다. 임동식은 1974년 홍익대학교 미술대학교를 졸업한 후, 고향 공주로 돌아와 "자연에 나를 던진다"는 의미로 야투(野投)를 결성해 10여 년간 활동하면서 금강미술제를 만드는 등 예술 실천적인 다양한 활동을 보여 주었습니다. 1982년 독일 함부르크 미술대학으로 유학을 가서 그곳에서 자연 미술 운동인 "자연 관찰로부터 미학원리"를 찾는 프로젝트에 참가하면서 그의 자연에 대한 생각들은 더욱 구체화되고 견고한 모습을 보여 주었습니다. 10년간의 독일 유학을 마치고 다시 공주로 돌아온 그는 "자연 속에서의 행위, 자연과 함께, 자연으로" 라는 이름으로 작업에 몰두하고 있습니다.

이번 에디션은 작가가 함부르크 시절 시작된 수선화가 가득 핀 공원에서 행한 퍼포먼스(1985)를 다양한 버전으로 옮긴 회화 작품들 중에서 선별하여 제작한 것입니다. 이번 전시에 소개되는 작품은 「고개 숙인 꽃에 대한 인사_이른 봄」, 「고개 숙인 꽃에 대한 인사_아침, 까치」, 「고개 숙인 꽃에 대한 인사_정오, 참새」, 「고개 숙인 꽃에 대한 인사_밤, 부엉이」 작품 4점을 각각 두 종류의 크기로 제작하여 총 8점으로 구성하였습니다. 각각의 작품은 자연에 대한 감사와 시시각각 변화하는 풍광을 담은 역작입니다. 2017년 12월, 한해를 마무리하는 시기에 자연의 온기가 가득한 임동식의 에디션과 함께 좋은 시간 가져주시기 바랍니다. ■ 갤러리 닷

Gallery Dot is dedicated to continuation of production of 'Editions' in the hope of introducing and popularizing diversity of contemporary art for that purpose, Gallery Dot selected "Giving greetings to drooping flowers" series by Rim, Dongsik which was first introduced in Gallery Dot last May. ● Rim, Dongsik's series received over whelming interest and attention at the time, and thanks to such response, it was produced as Edition artworks. Artist Rim, Dongsik graduated from Hong-ik University and return to his home in Gong-ju. He is a founding member of "Yah-Tu"meaning 'To throw myself to nature, and has been active in various art related activities including Geumgang Contemporary Art Fair. He participated in art movement that sought "fundamental aesthetic from observation of Nature" while he studied Hamburg, Germany in 1982. After 10 years of studying in Germany, he is back in Gong-ju, he continues to "work in nature, with nature, and by nature." His work reflects how he embraces and communes with life and nature. ● This Edition was selected and reproduced into diverse version from artwork, performance in daffodil filled field(1985) that began during Rim's time in Hamburg, Germany. This exhibition introduces 「Giving greetings to drooping flowers_early spring」, 「Giving greetings to drooping flowers_morning, magpie」, 「Giving greetings to drooping flowers_noon, sparrow」, 「Giving greetings to drooping flowers_night, owl」 in 2 different sizes total 8 produced distinctive artworks. Each artwork is an appreciation of nature and its ever-changing scenery.
