작가는 이 전시를 통해 그가 바라본 현재의 대한민국을 진단하고자 한다. 그는 이 시대가 가지는 정치, 경제, 그리고 문화적 특징이 과거의 경험으로부터 비롯된 역사적 콤플렉스와 한국 특유의 민족적 성향이 결합되어 생성되었음에 주목한다. 이러한 역사적 배경 위에서 작가는 그 동안 이 나라가 실재를 깊이 있게 이해하기 보다는 보여지는 것에만 치중해 왔음을 느낀다. 그는 사회 이면에 은폐 또는 왜곡되어 온 다양한 문제를 수면 위로 끌어 올려, 이번 전시가 현 시대의 대한민국에 대한 새로운 담론을 형성하는 기회의 장이 되길 희망한다. ■ 313 아트 프로젝트

In 『Silence in between』, Wan Lee diagnoses the present Korea as seen through his own eyes. He believes that Korea's social, political and economic characteristics has been originated from its historical complex and nationalist inclination unique to the Korean. With such a historical context in mind, the artist points out that Korea has tended to consume only the external things on a superficial level rather than making attempts to gain an in-depth understanding of reality. Wan Lee will be showing various social problems concealed so far throughout the exhibition, and establishing a new discourse on Korea's present situation. ■ 313 ART PROJECT
