HMP (Happy Missile Project)

해피미사일 프로젝트『Happy Missile Project』는 삼청동의 특정장소(스페이선+ 갤러리)를 기점으로, 약 3달간 화이트 큐브 속, 갤러리를 나와 거리 곳곳에서 관객 시선의 폭을 확장시키는 설치를 시도하였다. 이 프로젝트는 이름에서 드러나듯, 극대화되어 표현된 메인미사일을 필두로 행복한 기운이 주변으로 점점 퍼져나가는 열린 조형물 형태를 선보인다. 관객들은 메인작품을 대면한 후, 주변의 상점: 카페, 옷가게 그리고 음식점 등, 미니어쳐작품으로 다시 마주하게 된다. 일정기간 동안 설치된 야외 설치작품은 그 장소의 특성에 맞물려 대중에게 특별한 공간과 공감대를 제시하는데, 이를 토대로 프로젝트를 진행한다. 성과물을 생산하기위한 활동이 아니고, 설치된 작품을 통한 대중과의 소통을 이끌어내는 것이다.

이번 프로젝트 전작인, 「Serendipity」 작품 속 색채감을 토대로, 일반적으로 보통사람의 뇌리에 안고 사는 살생무기로써의 미사일보다는 오색찬란한 색상을 조합한 해피미사일로, 미사일의 고정관념에 관하여 관객과의 소통을 새롭게 시작한다. 역발상으로 착안된 미사일 이미지로써, 거부감보다는 친숙한 접근으로 긍정 그리고 행복의 메시지를 전달하고자 한다. 프랑스의 과학 철학자이자 시인인 가스통 바슐라르는 "상상력은 대상을 차단된 것이 아니라, 우리들과 직접적으로 교류할 수 있는 것처럼 여기고, 또 스스로 변화하는 가능성을 가진 것으로 파악하게 되는 것이다."고 했다. 상상력을 통해 교류와 변화를 끌어내고자 한, 그와 같이, 상상 속 해피미사일이라는 변화된 무기 형태와 일상 공간 안에서 대중의 참여유도를 통하여, 소통의 작품을 선보이는 것이 이번 프로젝트이다. ■ 박안식

Happy Missile Project is an installation work in Sam-chung Dong's street, Seoul. The project has placed several missiles from a specific space (Space sun+ galley) to near here (Sam-chung Dong's street). It is to lead extending of audience's view from the white-cube, 'Gallery'. The main missile on e×tended e×pression is spreading happy virus to others which is showing an open-sculpture form as the project's name as. After audience look at the main missile, they can observe several miniature works nearby stores like cafe, clothing store, and restaurant. The project is based on the feature of outside's structure within a certain period of time which means to give particular space and especial consensus to audience throughout a feature of the space. This does not reach an achievable result by the precondition, on the other hand, it outcomes to another communication within audience through the structure of the open-sculpture form. People generally think a missile with achromatic color as a weapon of destruction, but the happy missile is combined multicolor which is a color basis of the previous work of this, 「Serendipity」. As you can tell now, happy missile is not only a weapon, but also it is staring point of communication with audience. It is created based on a contrarian thinking among a missile image. This project is showing a way to communicate through public participation into daily spaces. ■ PARK An-Sik
