유사한 시선 Similar View

작업실 인근에 흐르는 작은 천(川)을 바라본다. 여름날 해질녘의 그 실개천은 노을을 머금은 듯 붉고 잔잔히 물비늘을 반짝이며 흐른다. 고요하고 한가하다. 순 간 마치 슬로우 모션처럼 우아하게 흐르는 물비늘위에 며칠 전 T.V에서 보았던 기름유출의 화면이 얹어진다. 검은 기름띠가 바다를 뒤엎고 어지럽혀진 장면이 실개천위에서 부유한다. 참으로 기묘하게 얽혀있어 한참을 먹먹하게 바라본다. 실개천의 물비늘에서 검은 기름띠의 유연한 물비늘이 비치고 기름띠에도 천의 물비늘이 일렁인다.

본래 한 몸에서 분화된 이형(異形)들처럼 유연함과 우아함이 동시에 배어 있다. "치명적"이다. 아름다움과 어울리지 않는 이 단어는 아름다움의 또 다른 얼굴이다. 자연 현상 속에는 아름다움을 담고 있는 그 속에 아이러니하게도 치명적인 독소들을 품고 있다. 또 그 반대로 치명적인 요소는 아름다움을 발한다. 아마도 그것이 자연이 품고 있는 양면의 질서다. ■ 박용선

I look at a streamlet near my studio. The streamlet at dusk in a summer day flows simmering with gentle waves aglow with the glow of the setting sun. Calm and peaceful. At a moment, on the sunlight-reflecting gentle waves elegantly flowing as slow motion images do is overlapping the scene of oil spill I watched on TV a few days ago. The scene of the ocean covered with supple black oil bands is floating on the streamlet. They really strangely mingle with each other, and I am so stunned as to look at them for a while. On the glowing waves in the streamlet is reflected the oil bands rocking on the waves, and vice versa. Elegance and suppleness is embedded in them as if they were a heteromorphy derived from that which was originally one body. "Fatal". This word unsuitable for beauty is another face of beauty. In beautiful natural phenomena lie fatal toxins, and vice versa. Say, fatal things will emanate beauty. Perhaps this is the nature's janus-faced order. ■ Park YongSeon
