기존의 작품은 일상생활의 실내 풍경 속에 야생 동물들을 등장시킴으로써 익숙한 공간을 낯설고 익살스럽게 표현하는 것이었다. 동물을 통해 우리 일상의 단면을 초현실적이면서도 유머러스하게 표현해 보는 이로 하여금 자신의 일상을 우화의 한 장면과 조우하게 하고 때로는 동심으로 돌아가게도 만든다. 익숙한 것에 대한 고정관념을 익살스럽게 비껴가는 표현 방식은 관객에게 잠시나마 일상의 고단함을 내려놓고 유쾌함의 세계로 인도하는 것이다.

이번 작품은 이러한 기존의 표현방식과 더불어 민화 속에 들어있는 기원과 축원에 대한 상징을 적극적으로 차용한다. ● 조선시대 후반부터 시작된 민화는 민중들이 실생활에서 꿈꾸는 필요와 기원을 축으로 발전한 그림형식이다. 이러한 민화가 가지는 장식적이고 기복적인 스토리텔링을 이중 액자형식을 통해 나의 그림 속에 적극적으로 차용한다. 그리고 기존의 일상적 공간을 낯설게 만드는 역할을 했던 동물들이 작품 속 또 다른 민화 작품의 의미를 몸소 실천하고 풀어내는 역할을 한다. 이러한 상징과 의미를 통해 현실 속의 꿈과 꿈속의 현실이 뫼비우스의 띠처럼 서로 맞물리며 어떤 기원이 시작된다. ■ 박향미(Tel. 010-3841-6068)

Our existing works appearing wild animals in our everyday life make our familiar spaces look unfamiliar and funny. The existing works which appear wild animals look surrealistic and humorous and also make our daily life encounter one scene of fables and sometimes make us return to the innocence of childhood. We are relieved because of the world of the pleasure and gaiety after the expression which was different from our stereotypes of familiars. ● This work which is along with the existing expression borrowed a symbol of origins and wishes. After the late of the Joseon Dynasty period, this folk painting is a picture form which develops to have wishes and necessaries to dream of our life. By a form of the double frame which this folk painting has a decorative and inconsistent storytelling, this borrowed it actively. and the animal which made this be unfamiliar has a role of solving and practicing of meaning in fork paintings. From the meaning and symbol of this, one origin starts when dreams of our reality and the reality of the dream are interlinked like a Mobius strip. ■ Park Hyang Me
