음절완구-SYLLABRICK

음절을 의미하는 syllable과 완구를 의미하는 brick의 합성어로 phoneme(음소)를 몸의 구성요소로 갖는 장난감이다. 언어가 문자로 기록되는 과정에서 소통으로서의 목적성이 강조됨으로 인해 잃어버린 표현으로서의 유희성을 되찾기 위해 제작되었다. 훈민정음 해례본에 나온 한글의 제자원리를 바탕으로 설계되었으며 초성 14종, 중성 10종, 종성 14종으로 총 38종의 brick으로 구성된다. 국어 표기법에 따르면 총 11,172가지의 조합을 할 수 있으며, 자유 조합을 할 경우에는 거의 무한대에 가까운 조합이 가능하다. ■ 김용관

Syllabrick, a compound word of "syllable" and "brick," is a toy that uses phoneme of Korean characters in order to represent its body components. It was created in order to restore the language’s lost amusement as its purpose of communication is emphasized in the process of a language being recorded as letters. It is constructed based on the founding principle of Korean from a Korean traditional script called "Haeryebon," and is composed of 38 bricks of 14 initial sounds, 10 vowels, and 14 final consonants. According to Korean orthography, Syllabrick can be composed as an infinite number of combinations but 11,172 of the actual characters. ■ KIMYONGKWAN
