다섯번째 다리 The fifth bridge

오늘날 현대문명의 발달로 만들어진 도시 공간은 자연의 본래의 모습보다는 인공의 형태가 가미되어 획일화되고 단순화 되었지만 그 대상으로부터 본인은 무한한 이미지와 조형적인 요소를 창출해낼 수 있다고 생각한다. 그리고 일상에서 접하는 답답하고 건조함이 비, 바람, 물과 같은 자연을 접함으로 해서 내면적 생명력을 가지고 복잡한 도시 안에서 자연으로의 귀소본능을 일으킨다.

'그림을 그린다.' 라는 것이 '나'라는 독립체가 인간과 소통해주고 무언가를 끊임없이 찾아 주는 것이라고 할 때 이번 전시에서 나는 '다리(Bridge)' 라는 인위적인 구조물이지만 육지-육지 그리고 바다-육지 단절된 것들을 서로 소통해주는 의미와 부합한다고 본다. 이처럼 본인의 작업은 별개의 것들을 연결해 주면서 그것들을 하나가 되는 인위적인 계획과 사전적 준비로 생성된 도시의 구조물들을 먹과 붓이라는 전통적 재료와 비가 내리는 듯 흩뿌려지거나 그어지는 강한 묵선들을 반복적인 행위와 기법으로 내면적 심상에 따라 풍경을 그린다. 그리고 이러한 작업들은 직관적 감성에 의한 행위이지만 이것이 나오기 전까지 나는 어디까지 철저하게 계획 되었는가를 반문하는 작업들이기도 하다. ■ 배지민

While the present urban space made by the modern civilization became uniform and simple added by artificial forms, rather than the original figures of nature, I believe that unlimited images and formative factors can be created from it. Also, our daily stifling and dry atmosphere can create internal vitality by meeting with the nature such as rain, wind, and water, and stimulates our homing instinct to the nature in our complicated city. ● When "drawing pictures" means that the entity "I" communicates with men and continues searching for something, I am a bridge, an artificial structure in this exhibition. I exactly correspond with the meaning which connects land and land and sea and land, disconnected things. Thus, my works connect individual things with each other. I express the urban structures created by artificial plans and preliminary preparation by the repeated behaviors and techniques of scattering like rain or dragging strong lines of ink with Chinese ink and an inkstone and draw the landscape according to internal images. Also, while this work is done by institutional sensitivity, I ask in return what is minutely planned until this comes into the world. ● "I was raised under the proper care and protection when I was kid. After I were all grown up , however, when I get into the world, it was too complicated and aridity to be protected. While I am standing at a bridge which has thick posts and strong piers I can have a psychological calmness and get away from the hectic life of the city for the strength coming from an artifical construction building. When rainstorm hits the city everything that makes it noisy, busy stops for a moment, turns into a extremely quiet place, holding its breath. The things before your eyes become clear, the things be pelted down from raindrops recover its own vitality. Spattering and dripping of raindrops between the windows of the running car create a fresh harmony with it by collapsing, demolishing the established structure. ● Leaving to somewhere. Rainstorm falling down to the city. In this barren world, I see you for a while, Sometimes it might be pathetically sometimes very proudly but I pass by you." ■ BAEJIMIN
