서울 사람의 서울 기록

이 전시는 서울에서 태어나고 자란 작가가 대중교통과 도보로 서울의 25개 자치구를 돌며 서울의 독특한 매력을 탐방하고 기록한 결과물들로 가득하다. 작가는 자신이 가장 잘 아는 고향인 서울을 드로잉, 레포트, 사진, 오브제 등 다양한 형식으로 표현하였다. 이번 전시를 준비하는 동안 즐거운 '서울 나그네'였던 작가는 이제 '서울 가이드'가 되어 전시를 관람하러 온 사람들을 맞이한다. 서울의 다채로운 매력을 시각적으로 담은 예술 작품을 통해 서울의 다양한 매력을 만날 수 있는 시간이 되기를 바란다. ■ 서울시청 하늘광장 갤러리

현재 진행하고 있는 지역 기록, 일련의 로컬 아카이빙 프로젝트는 나를 전혀 새로운 지역으로 데려가 주기도 하고 이미 알고 있던 지역을 다시 만나 새로운 시선으로 보게 해주기도 한다. 2013년 시청, 광화문, 명동, 홍대, 강남역 등 유동 인구가 많은 거리의 기록에서 시작하여 서울을 순환하는 2호선 작업까지, 때로는 발걸음이 향하는 대로 유영하기도 하고 때로는 이동에 규칙이나 목표를 부여하며 조금 더 특별한 여정을 만들기도 했다. 이러한 작업은 성북구(2013, 2017, 2024), 영등포구(2014), 마포구(2019), 중구 (2021), 은평구(2021, 2022), 용산구(2023), 도봉구(2023), 구로구(2024)로 점점 뻗어나가며, 마침내 이번 전시를 통해 서울 25개 자치구 전체를 돌아보고 기록하게 되어 감회가 새롭다. 현재의 모습을 소소하게 담은 나의 작업들이 시간이 지나며 어느덧 역사가 담긴 기록물이 되어가고 있다는 생각에, 지금 현재 이 도시를 더 탐구하고 기록하겠다는 다짐을 하게 된다. ■ 김진선

This exhibition showcases the remarkable journey of Jinseon Kim, an artist born and raised in Seoul, who explored the city's 25 districts using public transportation and on foot. Kim captures Seoul's unique charm through a variety of media, including drawings, reports, photographs, and objects. As she prepared for this exhibition, she joyfully wandered as a 'Seoul vagabond,' and now, as a 'Seoul guide,' she welcomes visitors to discover the city's diverse allure through her visual artworks. ■ SKY PLAZA GALLERY

The ongoing local archiving project has taken me to new areas and allowed me to revisit familiar places with fresh perspectives. Since 2013, I have documented bustling streets like City Hall, Gwanghwamun, Myeongdong, Hongdae, and Gangnam Station, eventually expanding to include the entire circular route of Line 2. Sometimes I wandered freely, while at other times I set specific goals, creating unique journeys. My work has gradually extended from Seongbuk-gu (2013, 2017, 2024) to Yeongdeungpo-gu (2014), Mapo-gu (2019), Jung-gu (2021), Eunpyeong-gu (2021, 2022), Yongsan-gu (2023), Dobong-gu (2023), and Guro-gu (2024). This exhibition marks the completion of my exploration and documentation of all 25 districts of Seoul. My modest works, capturing the present, are becoming historical records over time, inspiring me to further explore and document this city. ■ Jinseon Kim
