작품 기획의도 - 자연과 인간의 공존..... 기억의 시간 ● 유년기시절 기억속에 아름다운 영화의 한장면처름 서정적인 풍경을 닮은 추억의이야기를 평면 회화로 표현하고자 한다. 지금것 작업하면서 한국의 미를 주제로 캔버스 평면에 입체(오브제)를 사용한 꼴라쥬가 주된 작업이다. ● 산골에 초여름이 시작되면은 아카시아 꽃이 만발하고 뽕나무에 오디 열매가 한창일 때 어머니는 토담방(흙집)에 양잠을 하셨다. 누에는 긴 시간 동안 온갖 몸부림을 치며 가늘고 고운 비단실을 토해낸다. 깊은밤이면 사각사각 뽕잎을 갉아먹는 소리는 영락없는 빗소리처럼 아름답게 들렸다.

자연과 인간.... 공존의 생명은 고독과 기다림이 중첩되어진 운명의 업에서 솟아나오는 스스로를 가두고 스스로를 옭아매어, 수행하는 스님과 같아 경이롭기까지 하다. 시절인연에 따른 재회와 이별.. 그리움을 이야기하는 작가의 삶도 누에고치와 일맥 상통하다. ● 아름다웠던 그해여름..백옥처름하얀 누에고치에 대한 기억은, 조형의 미, 회화로 표현하고자 하였다. 자연의 아름다운 기억은 작가의 예술성으로 재탄생되어진 작품은, 사라져가는 자연과 추억에 대한 그리움을 노래한다.

작품설명 - 평면과 입체를 공유하는 조형언어 ● 지금것 한국의 미를 주제로 캔브스 평면에 달항아리를 표현, 폼보드를 사용한 꼴라쥬가 주된 작업이다. 최근신작은 사라져가는 자연과 고향의 향수 어머니, 그리움에 대한 기억을 표현하였다. 실제 누에고치를 오브제로 사용하여 캔브스에 누에고치를 꼴라주후에 와이어 브러쉬로 수천번 끍어내어 실을뽑는 연속과 반복적인 작업으로 수행과 진정성에 심도를 높였다. 꼴라쥬 작업은 조형의 형태에 대하여 많은 고민을 하였으며, 형태의 반복적인 구도는 수직과 수평을 이루며 화면 외곽을 둘러싸고 서브적인 부제의 차용으로 단색이 펼쳐진 평면에서 입체적 구성범위로 확장시키고자 하였다.

이 같은 주제와 부제의 혼용적 표현은 질서있고 안정적인 차별성을 보여주고자 하였으며, 먹작업과 모노크롬의 단색 사용은, 절제와 내면의 깊이 벽을 바라보며 참선, 수행하는 수도승의 의미를 두고 있다. ● 또한 형식과 재료에 국한되지 않는 자유로움을 표출하려는 실험적인 시도는 현대미술의 다양성을 연구하고자 하였다. ■ 천현태

Artist Intention - Coexistence of nature and mankind.... It's a time to remember ● The artist intended on expressing bits and pieces of his/her memories of lyrical landscapes, which resemble beautiful movie scenes, based on the artist's childhood memories through surface paintings. Until now, the artist's main work had focused on collage using solids (objets) on canvas paper using the topic of Korean beauty. ● At the start of each early summer, deep in the mountains, when acacia flowers are in full bloom and mulberry trees are filled with mulberries, the artist's mother would grow silkworms in a mud-walled room. The silkworm would struggle over an extensive period of time to produce thin and fine silk thread. Throughout the night, the sound of it crunching on mulberry leaves would resonate beautifully, perfectly resembling the sound of raindrops. ● Nature and mankind.... The life of coexistence locks up and ties oneself in the realm of fate in which solitude and patience overlap to the extent that he or she is viewed with awe, similar to a monk practicing asceticism. The reuniting and parting of a relationship during the times.. The artist's life, which speaks about longing, shares a thread of connection with the cocoon. ● During that beautiful summer, the artist deeply longed to express the lily-white cocoons as a topic of art. With the passage of time, the artist now desires to express his/her work in the elegant form of sculptures and paintings. Artwork Description - Formative language that shares surface and solid structures ● Until now, the artist had mainly worked on collage using form boards, expressing Moon Jars on canvas paper on the topic of Korean beauty. The artist's recent works portrayed memories on longing for the disappearing nature, and his/her mother and hometown. ● The artist used an actual cocoon as an objet to enhance the depth of the authenticity of the work. The collage work involved deep thinking into the type of the sculpture, with the form's repetitive composition aligning both horizontally and vertically, and the borrowing of a subtopic surrounding the frame's exterior aimed to expand the spatial composition range of the surface through extension with a single color. atureand memories that continue to fade away. ● Such mixed usage of the topic and subtopic aimed to show order and stable differentiation, and the usage of ink work and a monochrome single color implies the meaning of a monk practicing asceticism while looking deep into the walls of self-control and introspection. ● Furthermore, the experimental attempt to unleash unrestricted freedom from form or art materials aimed to further inquire into the diversity of modern art. ■ Cheon Hyeontae
