Light, the Dance of Time-생성과 소멸의 경계는 없다 ● 『빛, 시간의 춤』은 시공간을 넘나들며 반복되는 생성과 소멸의 이야기를 담고 있다. 선사시대 흔적이 고스란히 남은 반구천 암각화에서 받은 영감에 상상력을 더한 이 작품은 초현실적인 장면을 교차시키며 전개하는 실감 몰입 영상이다. ● 암각화에 새겨진 사람, 고래, 사슴, 호랑이, 거북 등의 이미지는 현대적인 조형 언어로 재구성되었고, 이들은 과거와 현재를 잇는 존재이자 예술적 경험을 이끄는 오브제들이다. 또한, 영상에서는 반구천 암각화 속 도상들과 함께, 울산의 바다·산·강 그리고 산업화된 공업지역을 담은 풍경을 번갈아 등장시켜 순환되는 시공간을 표현하기 위한 모티브로 제시한다. 이를 통해 작품 전반에 걸쳐있는 생성과 소멸의 흐름을 은유적으로 시각화했다. 더불어 빛의 변화, 화면의 동적 프로세스, 색채의 절제 등으로 감상자의 심미적 긴장감을 유도하고 감성을 증폭시키려고 하였다. 『빛, 시간의 춤』 영상은 체험을 통해 작품의 몰입도를 높이는 미디어아트 전용관인 'XR랩'을 활용함으로써 관람객의 공감을 끌어내고자 했다. 특히 전시의 부제인 시공의 경계를 건너 끊임없이 순환하는 생성과 소멸의 관계를 전시장에 구현하기 위해 애썼다. 이를 위해 작가는 전시장 바닥에 수조를 설치하고 수조의 물에 비친 영상 이미지가 빛에 반사되고 투영되는 효과를 통해 그것을 표현하고 있다.

『빛, 시간의 춤』은 1990년 후반부터 미디어 아트의 매력에 관심을 갖고 미디어 설치 영상 작업에 전념해 온 류재하 작가가 참여하여 몇 년간 실험하고 연구했던 다양한 표현 기법들을 선보인다. 작가는 'XR랩'의 구조적 특성에서 잘 드러나는 착시와 공감각적 효과를 더하기 위해 생성형 인공지능과 3D 모델링 기술을 접목하여 이번 전시를 준비하였다. ● 미술관은 이번 전시에서 도시 울산이 품고 있는 자연환경과 다양한 삶의 풍경을 소재로 제작한 몰입 영상을 통해, 울산의 문화적 정체성에 대해 사유할 수 있는 시간을 제공하고자한다. ■ 울산시립미술관

No boundary between creation and extinction ● 『Light, the Dance of Time』 contains the story of creation and extinction between time and space. It is an immersive video crossing hyper-realistic scenes with the inspiration from Bangudae Petroglyphs, which have traces of prehistoric age, adding imagination. ● Images engraved in the petroglyphs, such as people, wales, deer, tigers, turtles, etc., are reconstructed as modern figurative language. These connect the past and the present and are the objects giving artistic experiences. Moreover, the video shows sea, mountains, and rivers in Ulsan and the scenery of industrialized places by turns as a motif of expressing the circulation of time and space. Through this, it metaphorically visualizes the flow of creation and extinction that covers the artwork. Furthermore, the changes of the light, the kinetic process of the screen, and the restraint of colors amplify and give aesthetic tensions. The intention of this work is to encourage empathy via experience in 'XR lab', the exhibition hall for media art, to enhance the immersive level of the viewers. Particularly, to embody the relationship between creation and extinction, which circulates consistently beyond time and space, the artist installed a water tank in the exhibition hall and made the effects where the video image reflected in the water is projected and reflected in lights. ● 『Light, the Dance of Time』 shows various expressions by the artist, Lyu Jae Ha, who has focused on media work by is interested in Media art since the late 1990s, and has researched and experimented for several years. He uses Generative Artificial intelligence and 3D modeling to add the optical illusion the multi-sensory effect, which are shown well with the structural characteristics of XR lab.  ● Ulsan Art Museum gives the moment to think about the cultural identity of Ulsan through the immersive video with scenes of various lives and nature that Ulsan embraces. ■ Ulsan Art Museum
