광주시립미술관은 다양한 전시기획을 통해 지역미술의 활성화, 지역미술사 연구, 국제교류, 신진작가발굴과 지역작가의 양성 및 지원에 힘쓰고 있다. 또한 한국에서는 최초로 1995년부터 레지던시 프로그램을 운영하여 광주출신 작가들의 창작지원을 하고 있다. 2009년 말, 중국 북경에 북경창작센터(Beijing Residency, GMA)를, 2017년에는 광주에 국제레지던시 스튜디오(International Residency, GMA)를 개관해 국내외 작가 교류 프로그램을 확장해 나가고 있다. ● 한국 광주는 국제미술행사인 광주비엔날레와 아시아 문화자원을 연구하고 세계와 함께 공유, 향유하는 역할을 담당하는 아시아문화전당이 있다. 광주시립미술관은 지역미술의 국제화와 성장, 국제무대 진출 등 국제교류를 위한 해외전시를 '문화도시광주전'이라는 타이틀로 매년 개최하고 있다. 무엇보다도 외국의 전시공간에 지역작가를 소개하는 해외전시 개최는 그 성과와 참여작가들의 성취도가 매우 높다.

풍류, 한국의 멋展_베트남국립미술관_2023

2023년 문화도시광주전은 오랜 역동적인 역사와 다양한 문화유산을 지닌 베트남에서 개최한다. 베트남과 한국은 1992년 수교 이후에 각 분야에서 다양한 교류를 활발하게 진행해왔다. 최근에는 한국 문화의 영향력이 크게 증가하면서 한류 콘텐츠에 열풍이 일고 있고 이러한 사회, 경제적 분위기와 더불어 베트남에서 개최하는 이번 전시는 큰 의의를 지닌다. ● 또한 광주시립미술관이 위치한 광주는 한국의 대표적인 문화도시로서 예로부터 '예술의 도시'라고 불릴 만큼 예술에 대한 전통이 깊은 도시다. 한국 작가 7명이 참여하는 이번 전시 『풍류, 한국의 멋』은 한국의 풍경, 유머, 정서를 보여준다. 이 전시를 통해 작게나마 한국 예술의 숨결을 느낄 수 있기를 바라며 베트남 문화 예술계와 활발한 교류를 기대한다.

이인성의 회화는 어느 소설의 한 구절처럼 인간 삶의 모습이 투영되어 있다. 그의 작품의 소재는 삶 속 마주한 인상적인 장면들이다. 누구에게나 일어날 수 있는 삶 속 이야기를 끌어내어 은유적 표현을 통해 그 의미를 부각시킨다.

표인부 작가는 한지를 부착하는 기법으로 작품을 제작한다. 작품들은 채색된 한지 조각들이 결을 이루며 꿈틀거린다. 그는 삶의 흔적을 '바람의 기억'으로 이름 붙여 삶을 투영하는 폭넓은 사유로 이끈다.

김창덕 작가는 석채, 돌가루, 자연색소 등 천연 재료들을 사용해 독창적인 도자화를 탄생시켰다. 그는 오로지 찻자리를 벗하며 작품을 제작한다. 그의 작품들은 한국 선비의 깊은 정신적인 맛과 멋, 격, 진정한 한국적 풍류를 나타낸다.

김병택 작가는 생명의 근원인 물과 바다, 산의 반복적인 형상을 붉거나 푸르게 대비시킨다. 그리고 그는 자연물의 여러 도상들을 중의적 의미로 상징, 함축한다. 이는 마치 삶 속 치유와 희망의 메시지인 듯하다. ■ 김민경

Gwangju Museum of Art is actively promoting local arts, researching local art history, participating in international exchanges, discovering emerging artists, and cultivating and supporting local artists through organizing various exhibitions. In addition, GMA has been running a residency program, the first in Korea, since 1995 and has been supporting the creative endeavors of Gwangju artists. GMA opened the Beijing Residency in late 2009, and also opened the International Residency Studio, GMA in 2017 to expand its exchange program for domestic and international artists. ● Gwangju hosts the international art event Gwangju Biennale, and Asia Culture Center, which researches and shares cultural resources in Asia. GMA hosts the Culture City Gwangju Exhibition every year to promote internationalization and growth for local artists and to find an opportunity for them to be introduced on an international stage. This overseas exhibition experience has been very successful, and participating local artists have gained greater recognition thanks to it. ● The Cultural City Gwangju Exhibition 2023 hold in Vietnam, which has a long dynamic history and various cultural heritages. Since diplomatic relations in 1992, Vietnam and Korea have actively conducted various exchanges in many field. Recently, as the influence of Korean culture has increased significantly, there has been a craze for Korean Wave content. With this social and economic atmosphere, this exhibition held in Vietnam has great significance. ● The Korean city of Gwangju, where the Gwangju Museum of Art is located, is a standardbearing cultural city in Korea with tradition regarding the arts, to the extent of having long been named a city of art. The Melody of Korean Art, in which seven artists from Korea are participating, will express Korean scenery, humor, and emotion. Through this exhibition, we hope you can feel the breath of Korea, and we look forward to active exchanges with Vietnamese art.

LEE Hyungwoo expresses human life with colorful colors and bold brush touches. The metaphorical situations are pleasant and contain the artist's wit, bringing laughter to the viewers. ● YOON Namwoong contains human affection with honest and humorous artworks. He evokes fun and vitality by humorously capturing traces of life, artistic freedom, and rural markets in his paintings. ● LEE Insung's paintings reflect human life like a passage from a novel. The subject of his artwork is the impressive scenes he faces in his life. It draws out stories in life that can happen to anyone and highlights their meaning through metaphorical expressions. ● KIM Sungnam captures primitive nature and the fundamental existence of humans. He expresses nature full of rough and primitive energy, rather than the familiar, peaceful, and beautiful natural landscape seen from a human perspective. ● PYO Inbu makes artworks by attaching Korean paper. The artworks wriggle with colored pieces of Korean paper forming a texture. He named the traces of life as memory of the wind', leading to broad thoughts that reflect life. ● KIM Changduk makes a unique ceramic work using natural materials such as stone, stone powder, and natural pigments. He only makes artworks with tea. Through his artwork, we can see the deep spiritual taste, style, quality, and true Korean style of Korean old scholar. ● KIM Byoungtaeg contrasts the repetitive shapes of water, the sea, and mountains, the source of life, with red and blue. And he symbolizes and implies the various iconography of natural objects in a neutral sense. It seems to be a message of healing and hope in life. ■ Kim Minkyeong
