흰 밤 White Night

흰 밤 ● 시간(時間)은 어떤 시각과 시각 사이의 간격을 뜻한다. 세상을 살며 필요한 三間인 시간, 공간, 인간에는 모두 글자 사이 간(間)이 포함되어 있다 이처럼 우리의 삶에도 사유의 틈 즉 사이가 꼭 필요하다. 낮의 시간인 이성과 물질, 자본을 이해하고 드러내며 그것을 밤의 시간인 정신성, 자연, 무한한 시간성과 결합한다. 전시제목인 '흰 밤'안의 낮과 밤은 나누어진 서로 다른 대립항이 아닌 반복하며 끝없이 쌓이고 응축되는 시간성에 대한 메시지이다.

이 전시에서 보여주는 '흰 밤' 연작은 소설가 한강의 책 『흰』에서 따온 것으로 과거 속으로 소환되는 과정을 완전한 빛도 완전한 어둠도 없는 자연속의 하루로 은유한 것이다. 쉽게 파괴되는 연약한 인간이라는 존재와 그럼에도 이 한계를 넘어서고자 하는 시간과 자연의 존재의 숭고함에 대해 이야기하고자 하였다. 작품사이(間)를 관람하는 관객들의 걸음걸음으로 하얗고 어두움 사이에서 현재의 희망을 발견해 보길 바란다. ■ 구본아

White Night ● Time (時間) indicates a gap between a certain point in time and another. Time, space, and human; the three essential elements of life, all contain the letter gap (間) in them. Similarly, our lives also require a gap, or a space, for thought. Understand and reveal reason, materials, and capital, which all belong to daytime. Combine them with spirituality, nature, and infinite temporality, which are all parts of night. In "White Night," day and night are not polar opposites; they rather reveal temporality that repeats, accumulates and condenses itself. ● The 'White Night' series in this exhibition derived from the novel "White" by Han Kang. A day in nature, which is neither completely bright or dark, is a metaphor for a process of reflecting back onto the past I wanted to talk about the fragile human existence and its vulnerability. I also wanted to discuss the attempt to surmount human limits through the sublime existence of time and nature. I hope that the viewers who walk between my works can find a glimpse of present hope between light and darkness. ■ Koo Bon A
