한국의 전통 닥종이를 캔버스위에 백묵(白墨)처럼 작업하는 나는 주로 생명을 통한 치유를 주제로 「The Tree of Life - 생명나무」 시리즈를 작업해 왔다. , 언어, 성경 등을 글이 아닌 그림으로, 태초의 '에덴', '생명나무', '생명수'등의 이상향과 유토피아적인 세계를 캔버스 위에 전통 닥종이를 이용하여 표현하고 있다. ● 나는 마치 호흡을 불어넣듯이 닥종이를 이용해 작품에 "생기(生氣), 숨;루아흐(rûah) "을 불어 넣는다. 수 많은 layer를 통해 자연의 일부인 닥종이는 작업을 통해 자연 그대로가 된다. 이때 나의 숨과 그림이 하나가 되고 닥종이의 섬유질은 숨결처럼 화면에 그대로 부어진다. 자연 안에는 "생명(生命)"이 생동한다. 그리고 그 "생기(生氣)"는 "치유"를 동반한다. 하나님의 숨결이 나에게 부어져 나의 삶이 소생되었듯이, 나의 작업은 닥종이로 그림에 숨을 불어넣는 작업이다. ● 특별히 올해는 대한민국이 정전 70주년 되는 기념비적인 해이다. 온 나라가 남과북, 좌,우, 세대간으로 분열된 이 때, 작품을 통해 부어진 하나님의 숨결로 온 나라와 교회와 열방이 하나됨을 소망하며 '치유'와 '회복'을 관객들과 공감하고자, 이번 전시를 준비하고자 하였다. ■ 김정수

I have been working on 「The Tree of Life」 series, mainly on the theme of healing through life, working on traditional Korean Dak paper. Kim Jeong-soo used traditional Korean Dak paper to express the utopian world such as Eden, Life Tree, and Life Water based on Bible. ● I use mulberry paper (Dak Jong-ee; Hanji) to bring life and breathe (rûah) living energy(生氣) into the work. Through the layers of work, mulberry papers which had come from the nature become the nature itself again. At this moment, my breath and the work become one, and the fibers of the paper are poured on the screen like a breath. In nature, "life" comes alive. And that "vitality" is accompanied by "healing My work is to breathe life into the drawings with these papers, just as God's breath was poured out on me and revived my life. ● This year, in particular is a monumental year for the 70th anniversary of the Korean Armistice Agreement. During this time of division with one nation into the North and South, right and left, as well as generations and generations, I wanted to bring this exhibition to sympathize with the audiences on 'healing' and 'recovery,' hoping that the whole country, church and nation will become one with the breath of God poured through the work. ■ Kim Jeongsu
