타자의 풍경

『타자의 풍경』 시리즈의 작업은 심리적 풍경에서 출발해서 생성과 소멸을 반복하는 자연의 풍경속에 대상화되고 물화된 나를 발견하는 작업이다. 익숙한 듯 낯설게 다가온 풍경을 거울의 이면에 새기고, 그 새겨져 벗겨내어 진 흔적 사이로 투과된 수십만 개의 작은 '빛'들이 만들어낸 자연의 이미지다. ● 찰나적이고 지속적인 동시대를 살아가는 타자들의 삶에 대한 욕망의 이기를 반추하고, 자연스러운 삶이란 어떻게 사는 것인지에 대한 사유의 과정을 풍경의 한 장면을 통해서 은유적으로 성찰하는 작업이라고 할 수 있다. ● 『타자의 풍경』에서 나는 거울 속에 멈춰서 있는 나를 바라본다. 그저 그렇게 쫓기듯 살아가느라 언제나 발걸음을 재촉하며 지나쳤던 작품 속 풍경은 내가 나를 찾기 위해 오래 머물고 싶었던 사유의 장소이다. ■ 김준기

My work is a story about the existence and life of others, and is described as a combination of multiple layers derived from the continuous act of drawing (engraving/scraping) of representation, temporal thinking gained in the drawing process, and strange materials such as mirror and light meet. ● It is an image of nature created by hundreds of thousands of small 'lights' that engraved a familiar and unfamiliar landscape on the back of the mirror, and penetrated through the traces that were peeled off. ● It is a work of reflecting on the desire for the life of others living in the momentary and continuous contemporary, and metaphorically reflecting on the process of thinking about how to live a natural life through a scene of a landscape. ■ Kim junki
