"나에게 실험실을 달라! 그러면 내가 세상을 들어올리리라" (브뤼노 라투르) ● 2021 ACC 아시아창작스튜디오 청년작가레지던시 결과전시 『새로운 지구 행성으로의 이주』는 세계화 이데올로기가 지배해온 지구 행성의 파괴된 환경에서 더 이상 거주할 수 없게 된 인류가 다종다양한 존재들이 함께 거주하는 새로운 영토를 발견해 나가는 과정을 탐구한다. ● 학제간 연구의 새로운 방식을 적용한 본 전시는 예술가, 큐레이터, 인류학자, 과학기술연구자, 고고미술사학자 등이 상호 관계 속에서 다양한 형태의 생명체를 탐구하고, 인간이 식물, 동물, 곰팡이, 미생물 등 다른 종과의 만남 가운데 어떻게 드러나는지 살피는 일련의 과정이었다. 이들은 '인간의 정의는 어떻게 변하고 있는지', '생명을 구성하는 것은 무엇'이며, '동식물, 인간/비인간을 구별하는 것은 무엇인가?', '이 지구에서 함께 사는 다른 유기체에 대한 우리의 책임은 무엇인가?' 등의 질문을 던지며 인류학과 자연과학에 예술적 상상과 개입을 모색했다. ● "올 여름 『침묵의 봄』이 상당한 소란을 일으키고 있다"고 전했던 1962년 7월 『뉴욕타임즈』 헤드라인은 모든 생명체의 권리에 관한 논쟁의 틀을 만든 발단이었다. 본 전시에서 8명(팀) 작가들은 새로운 지구 행성으로 이주하기 위한 8가지 전술-Re/view, Re/form, Re/search, Re/create, Re/act, Re/animate, Re/discover, Re/wilding-을 적용했다. 이들은 인간 중심적 사회에서 지나치게 불균형을 이루고 있는 인간/비인간의 불편한 관계를 드러내고 세계를 '다시/보기'함으로써 목격자로서 예술가의 역할을 강조하거나(Re/view: 신재은), 인류를 역습하게 될 소음공해의 위험성을 음향풍경으로 시뮬레이션 한다(Re/form: 박지수). 제2차 세계대전 전후 식용목적으로 아시아로 유입된 외래종을 비교 연구한 결과를 가상의 인물을 통해 발표(Re/search: 장은하)하고, 재난 이후의 도시를 상상하고 '비저너리 건축'이라는 방법론을 통해 시각화한다(Re/create: 나혜수). ● 또한, 환경과 사람의 관계 설정에서 살아남으려는 (도태된) 사람들, 남겨진 것들에 관한 이야기를 퍼포먼스 필름을 통해 재현하거나(Re/act: 임의그룹), 팬데믹으로 인해 변화된 사람과 사람 사이의 거리- '공기관계'에 대해 고민하며 동양의 '반고' 신화의 모티프를 통해 자연과 인간 관계를 재창조한다(Re/animate: 강민희). 나와 다른 타자의 세계를 이해하려는 시도로서 다른 이의 눈(각막, 초점, 시력)을 통해 바라본 다중적 현실을 드러내고(Re/discover: 이윤재), 땅 속 균사체가 월등한 지능과 자신들만의 문화를 지녔다고 가정하며 인간이 균사체 무리의 행동양식과 지혜를 배움으로써 새로운 지구 환경에 쉽게 정착할 수 있을 것이라고 주장한다(Re/wilding: 황선정). ● 궁극적으로 『새로운 지구 행성으로의 이주』는 보이지 않던, 숨겨졌던 존재들을 드러낸다. 지금 우리 모두는 그 새로운 지구 행성으로 이주하기 위한 표류공간에 머물며 변모하고 있음 느낀다. 전시는 그러한 변형 과정을 실험한 작가들의 작업 공간을 펼쳐 보임으로써 관객들과 함께 신체적으로 감각하고 경험할 수 있는 소중한 기회가 될 것이다. ■ 조주현

"Give Me a Laboratory and I Will Raise the World" (Bruno Latour) ● The 2021 ACC Asia Plex Studio Youth Artists' Residency Result Exhibition 『Migration to a New Earth Planet』 explores the process of mankind, who can no longer reside in the destroyed environment of Earth's planet dominated by globalization ideology, discovering new territories inhabited by multiple species. ● Applying a new mode of interdisciplinary research, this exhibition, is a series of processes in which artists, curators, anthropologists, science and technology researchers, and archaeological art historians explore various forms of living things in mutual relationships and examine how humans manifest themselves through encounters with other species such as plants, animals, fungi, and microorganisms. They sought artistic imagination and intervention in anthropology and natural science, asking questions such as "how human justice is changing," "what makes life apart?" and "what distinguishes animals and plants from humans/non-humans?" ● The headline of the 『New York Times』 in July 1962, which said, "Silent Spring is now noisy summer", was the beginning of the debate over the rights of all living things. In this exhibition, eight (team) artists applied eight tactics - Re/view, Re/form, Re/search, Re/create, Re/act, Re/animate, Re/discover, and Re/wilding - to migrate to the new Earth planet. They emphasize the role of an artist as a witness by "re/viewing" the world while revealing the uncomfortable relationship between humans and non-humans, which is excessively imbalanced in a human-centered society (Re/view: Jaeeun Shin), and the risk of noise pollution that will counterattack humanity is simulated with a soundscape (Re/form: Jisoo Park). Present the results of a comparative study of foreign species introduced to Asia for food before and after World War II through a fictional person (Re/search: Eunha Jang), and imagine a city after a disaster and visualize it through a methodology called 'Visionary Architecture'. (Re/create: Hyesoo Na). ● In addition, stories about (fall out) people who are trying to survive the establishment of a relationship between the environment and people, and what is left behind, are reproduced through performance films (Re/act: arbitrary groups). The distance changed between people due to the pandemic - thinking about "co-occurrence", nature and human relations through motifs of the oriental "Pangu" myth is reanimated (Re/animate: Minhee Kang). As an attempt to understand the world of others, the multiple reality is revealed through others' eyes (cornea, focus, vision), and assuming that mycelium in the ground has superior intelligence and their own culture, it is claimed that humans will be able to easily settle in a new global environment by learning the behavior and wisdom of mycelium group (Re/wilding: Seonjeong Hwang). ● Ultimately, 『Migration to a New Earth Planet』 reveals invisible, hidden beings. It's a time where we all now feel that we are being transformed and staying in the drifting space to migrate to that new Earth Planet. The exhibition will be a valuable opportunity to physically sense and experience with the audience by unfolding the workspace of the artists who experimented with such a transformation process. ■ Juhyun Cho
