생각을 담다 ● 나는 '생각'을 이쑤시개에 담는 작업을 하고 있습니다. 이미지들은 주변에서 흔하게 볼 수 있는 풍경이나 사건들, 장소, 동물들 또는 사람들의 평범한 일상모습을 하고 있습니다. 이러한 형태들은 나의 주변에서 느끼는 감정이나 기억들. 그리고 일상의 소소함을 '생각' 이라는 제목으로 작업을 진행하고 있습니다. ● '생각'은 사물을 헤아리고 판단하는 작용, 어떤 사람이나 일 따위에 대한 기억, 어떤 일을 하고 싶거나 관심을 가짐, 또는 일이라는 여러 가지의 뜻을 함축하는데 각각의 상징들은 바라고 원하는 것들, 추억, 기억, 자연의 아름다움을 화면에 담고자했습니다. ● 화면은 점으로 이루어진 회화적인 요소와 공예적인 특징을 갖습니다. 회화의 출발은 점으로 부터 시작하여 선이 되고 면이 되는데, 이쑤시개의 작은 점이 모여 면을 만드는 과정은 회화의 개념이기도 합니다. 그리고 전통가구에 관심을 갖고 배우기도 한 나로서는 자연스레 나무를 다루는 장인들의 섬세함과 꼼꼼함이 공예 적으로 표현되어 졌으리라 생각됩니다.

우리는 뭐든지 스타일이 있다, 혹은 스타일이 없다, 하고 말합니다. 작가서로 자리매김하기 위해서는 자신만의 스타일을 확립하는 일은 중요합니다. ● "나만의 개성을 발휘하고 싶다" 이것은 현대를 사는 우리에게도 공통적으로 존재하는 욕망입니다. 그 욕망은 매우 강해서 개인적이고 싶다, 독자적인 것을 갖고 싶다, 오리지널이고 싶다, 하는 일종의 강박적인 생각으로 발전하게 됩니다. ● 오리지널은 독창적이라는 뜻 외에'원초적'이라는 의미도 갖고 있습니다. 오리지널이고 싶다는 것을 바꿔 말하면 자신이 뭔가의 '출발점'이 되고 싶다는 겁니다. ● 디지털기술이 등장과 정보의 범람으로 인해 차별성과 독창성이 희미해져가는 현대사회에서 자신의 개성을 주위에 인식시키고 오리지널로 인정받기는 쉽지 않습니다. 자신이 '오리지널'이 되고자 하는 것, 그런 강한 욕망이 사람을 움직이게 하는 근원적인 에너지가 됩니다. ● 이쑤시개는 일상의 소소함을 대변하기도 하지만 재료에서 오는 낮선 느낌을 통해 익숙하지만 익숙하지 않는 오리지널이 되길 기대합니다.

닭, 돼지, 고양이가 보이고 요가 하는 여인, 달리는 사람, 광화문, 이순신 장군도 등장합니다. 여행 중에 방문했던 장소나 가보고 싶은 여행지를 상상하고, 낮과 밤, 해와 달이 어울리고 과거와 현재, 미래가 공존하는 이야기, 생각나는 대로 그림이 되는, 마치 숨은 그림 찾기처럼 풍부한 상상을 해봅니다. ● 평범한 일상이 그리운 팬더믹 시기에 무언가에 메이지 않고 자유로운 삶을 추구하고 싶은 욕망은 우리의 바램 일 것입니다. ■ 염기현

These forms are feelings and memories that I feel around me. And we're working on the smallness of our daily lives under the title 'Thinking.' ● 'Thinking' implies a lot of different meanings: the action of judging and judging things, the memory of someone or something, the desire or interest in something, or the work, and each symbol tried to capture what it wanted, the memory, the beauty of nature. ● The screen has pictorial elements of dots and craftsmanship. The beginning of a painting begins with a dot, becomes a line and a noodle, and the process of making a noodle with small dots of a toothpick is also a concept of painting. And as a person who is interested in and learned about traditional furniture, I think that the subtlety and meticulousness of artisans who deal with trees are naturally expressed in a crafty way. ● We say that everything has style, or no style. It is important to establish your own style to become a writer. ● 'I want to show my own personality.' This is a common desire in modern life. The desire is so strong that it develops into a kind of obsessive idea that you want to be personal, have something independent, or be original. ● In addition to being original, the original also means 'original'. To change what you want to be the original, you want to be the starting point for something. ● In a modern society where digital technology is fading due to the emergence of digital technology and the flood of information, it is not easy to recognize one's personality and be recognized as the original. The desire to become an 'original' becomes the fundamental energy that moves people. ● The toothpick also represents the triviality of everyday life, but we expect it to be a familiar but unfamiliar original through the low-line feel of the material. ● You can see chickens, pigs, and cats, and there are also yoga women, runners, Gwanghwamun, and Admiral Yi Sun-shin.
