오늘, 순간, 감정

아트사이드 갤러리는 2021년 1월 22일부터 2월 28일까지 그룹전 『오늘, 순간, 감정』을 개최한다. 이는 신진작가 지원전으로서, 역량 있는 신진 작가에게 폭넓은 작업 기회를 제공하고 함께 성장하기 위한 아트사이드 갤러리의 세 번째 전시이다. 이번 전시는 독자적 시선과 창의적인 표현으로 활발한 활동을 전개해 나가고 있는 젊은 작가 송승은, 오지은, 이미솔 3명을 소개한다. ● 송승은은 흐릿한 경계와 군상 표현을 통해 현 시대의 묘한 분위기를 재현한다. 그러나 그것은 장면 자체라기보다는 작가 자신이 경험한 기대와 실망의 순간, 그리고 현 시대의 긴장하고 있는 분위기라 할 수 있다. 오지은은 흔들린 피사체를 담아내는 듯한 표현을 통해 왜곡된 이미지, 사라지는 감정을 포착하려 한다. 작가는 포착하는 순간 지나가는 감정을 담아두기 위해 '불가능한 작업'을 계속한다. 감정은 사라지고 왜곡되지만 이를 붙잡기 위해 독창적인 내러티브를 전개한다. 이미솔은 감정이 표현되는 순간인 '예술' 자체를 탐구한다. 작가는 예술이 호명되기 이전의 장소인 작업실, 작업과정에 주목하며 작업하는 순간 사라지는 작업의 흔적을 집요하게 추적한다. 붓질, 마스킹테이프, 버려지는 휴지 등 다양한 '순간'이 모두 작가의 작업 대상이다. ● 이번 전시에서 주목하고자 하는 바는 젊은 작가들이 역동적인 시대를 살아가며 포착하는 미묘한 순간과 경계에 있다. 이들은 모두 감정이란 키워드를 중심으로 너무 빨리 변화하는 시대, 사라지는 순간의 이미지를 포착하려 한다. 아트사이드는 젊은 세 명의 작가와 함께 동시대 예술가가 포착하는 순간과 감정에 대해 고민해보고자 한다. 너무 빨리 지나가는 이미지의 시대, 무제한으로 확장되는 연결의 시대, 그러면서도 단절과 중지를 요구하는 모순된 시대를 살아가는 젊은 작가들의 이야기에 귀기울여보는 시간이 되기를 기대한다.

Artside Gallery holds a group exhibition "Today, Moment, and Emotion" from January 22 to February 28, 2021. As an exhibition to support rising artists, it is the first project of Artside Gallery in 2021 that has been committed to backing young artists to perform varied works and grow into noteworthy artists. The exhibition introduces three artists who are actively working with their own perspectives and creative styles: Song Seungeun, Oh Jieun, and Lee Misol. ● Song Seungeun portrays today's weird moods in vague borders and people. What she depicts are not certain scenes, but the moments when she expects or disappoints and today's tension. Like taking a picture of a shaking subject, Oh Jieun captures distorted images and disappearing atmospheres. She performs an impossible work that tries to draw emotions that flash by when she tries to capture. Emotions vanish and are distorted, but for her work she develops creative narratives to catch them. Lee Misol explores the moments when emotions are expressed, and in particular, pays attention to workshops where artworks are made and to the process through which they are made, that is, things needed to complete artworks. And she persistently follows traces of her work that are bound to vanish the moment she focuses on the process of her work. Brush strokes, masking tapes, tissues thrown away on the floor are all subjects of her work. ● What the exhibition pays attention to is subtle moments and borders the three young artists capture living in today's dynamic world. Under the motif of emotion, they all seize images in fleeting moments in a quick-paced world. Artside Gallery would like to ponder over the moments and emotions the artists have captured with the audience.
