'razzle dazzle' 래즐 대즐

인간의 오류와 욕심 등을 통해 생겨난 '펜데믹(Pandemic)' 사회의 부조리, 정치적 혼란, 자연재해, 환경파괴 등 어느 하나 중심을 두지 못하는 우리들의 우왕좌왕하는 상황을 표현한다. 이는 인간관계뿐만 아니라 인간과 자연의 이치와도 다르지 않다. 'Razzle dazzle' 는 "화려하고 눈이 부실만큼 빛나고 인상적인 뜻과 함께, 주의가 산만하고 혼란스럽다." 라는 이중적 의미를 담고 있다. 이를 토대로 이번 전시회는 설치, 조각, 조명 등의 매체를 이용하여 표현되어진다.

전시장 중심에 설치되어 있는 포탄들은 전쟁, 삶과 죽음 등의 인류에 대한 부정적인 인간사회의 현실을 표현하고 있으며, 이로 인해 인간이 만들어 내는 자연의 재앙까지도 그 의미를 담고자 한다. 하지만 이를 중심으로 주변에 설치된 입체작품들과 설치작품들은 희망적 요소를 대신하는 방식으로 표현되어진다. 화려한 나비와, 빛을 머금고 있는 하트 등의 작품들은, 인고의 시간을 기어이 버텨내고 협력하여 결국 '부활'이라는 성스러운 변화를 맞이할 것이라 희망적인 메세지를 전달하고자 한다. 궁극적으로 이번 전시회의 의미는 가감승제(加減乘除)라고 할 수 있다. "나에게 나를 가(加)하여 나만의 욕구를 채우려는 예술을 감(減)하고 대중에게 다가가는 예술로 승(乘)하게 되어 작가의 예술적 재능을 대중과 제(除)하게 되었고, 또한 작가의 작품은 대중과 만나 그 의미가 가해(加)지게 되었다" (배수영 작가노트 中) ■ 김내수

This exhibition represents our situations being thrown to confusion through 'Pandemic' which comes from errors and greed of human, 'social absurdity', 'political chaos', 'natural disaster' and 'environmental destruction'. This is not only different from human relationship but also the order of nature. 'Razzle Dazzle' contains a double meaning "fancy and impressive as dazzling" and "razzle like chaos". To come up with this meaning, the exhibition will be expressed through mediums like installation, sculpture, illumination etc. Cannonballs which are instructed in the center represent the manifestation of negative human society on humanity such as war and death, in addition it also means natural disaster created by human. However, around this, the three-dimensional structures and installation structures installed around them are expressed in a way that replaces the element of hope. Through the works like fancy butterflies and the hearts that contains lights, the artist want to deliver a hopeful message that enduring and cooperating length of time for perseverance will finally get to 'Resurrection'. ■
