세계에서 가장 웃긴 농담 ● "영국에 몬티 파이선이라는 코미디 그룹이 있는데, 이 사람들이 60년대 말에 만들었던 콩트가 있어. '세계에서 가장 웃긴 농담'이라는 작업이거든. 내용이 뭐냐면, 어네스트 스크리블러라는 코미디 작가가 어쩌다가 세계에서 가장 웃긴 농담을 쓰게 된 거야. 그걸 쓰고 읽다가 너무 웃겨서 픽 죽어버려. 그걸 읽는 모든 사람이 웃다가 죽으니 이 농담을 '살인 농담'이라고 부르면서 전쟁 무기로 쓰기까지 하는, 그런 이야기야. 난 그런 생각할 때도 있거든. A가 죽기 전에 그런 살인 농담을 생각한 게 아닐까. 그리고 웃다가 픽 죽은 거지. 어네스트 스크리블러처럼. 아니면, 그런 농담을 생각하려고 평생을 애썼는데 실패해서, 슬퍼서 그랬을지도 모르지. 사람이 재미없어서 죽을 수도 있잖아. 보통은 그래서 많이 죽으니까... 음... 아무래도 전자였다면 좀 나았을까?" Otherwise, he might have died from the sad realization that he had spent his entire life to come up with a great joke and failed at it. People can die of boredom. I suppose most of them do so...
