나의 기억, 나의 기록 - 2017, 2018, 2019 ● 2016년 전시 이후 그린 그림들이다. 그리던 그때의 상황과 내 마음의 출렁임이 내게만인지 모르지만 슬쩍 보인다. 그새 조금 나아진 듯 보이는 붓의 기운이나 한국화 기술은 그 시간만큼의 훈련 덕분이리라. 크게 망치는 것이 적으니 순간 의심도 생긴다. 혹시 늘 보던 방식으로, 손에 익은대로 하면서 그만큼 겁이 많거나 비겁해진 것은 아닐까? 거의 같은 장소의 같은 소재를 조금씩 다르게 표현하게 되는 것도 마치 조약돌 깔린 작은 개울물처럼 큰 기복없이 흘러가는 내 삶과 닮아있다. 그림은 삶의 기억이고 기록이다. ■ 김아영

My Memoirs, My Journal - 2017, 2018, 2019 ● I reviewed the paintings from last three years. I feel the state of mind and see the circumstances surrounding each painting. I detect the subtle effects of frustration or joy from personal or socio political events at the time. The strokes seem more energetic and the technique seems to show some improvement most likely due to many years of practice. I make fewer mistakes which makes me wonder if I feel too safe within the familiar ways. Similar themes from similar places are expressed differently , reflecting my life flowing steadily* but affected by the surrounding wind, rain and different sizes and shapes of pebbles at the bottom of the stream. My paintings are my memoirs and my journal. ■ Kim, ah-young
