오랫동안 작품의 주제로 삼아온 '순환의 여행/ 방주와 강목 사이'는 작품의 범위와 여정을 함축적으로 제시한다. 즉, 방주는 대홍수 이후 살아남은 노아의 방주로 서양문명을 상징하며, 강목은 한방에서 쓰이는 약초나 약재의 기록서인 본초강목(本草綱目)에서 따온 것으로 동양사상을 상징한다. 이는 서양으로 상징되는 '문명'과 동양으로 상징되는 '자연'과의 융합을 나타내는 것이며, 인간과 자연의 순환 구조 속에서 존재의 본질에 귀속된 시공의 기억들을 인류의 수직적 성장과정과 수평적 연대과정 속에서 추적하고자 하는 예술적 스펙트럼을 보여주는 것이다. 또한 인간과 자연의 진정한 소통을 통해 문명과 자연의 진정한 화해를 꿈꾸는 것이다. 자연과의 진정한 소통 없이는 인간과 인간의 창조적이며 긍정적인 관계도 불가능하고, 예술은 선험적 모험과 새로운 세계로 나아가는 동력을 상실할 것이기 때문이다. 그리고 인간을 그리고 개인을 중심에 두려는 현대 미술의 구조에 반하여 자연과 인간의 상호 보완적, 순환적 관계를 통해 인간의 본질과 태도를 성찰하려하며 존재 그 자체의 문제보다 존재의 근거를 통해 정제된 이치와 본성을 지속하고 보존하고자 한다. ■ 차기율

The project 'The journey of circulation' is aearch of art and humanities that looks back and rechecks human nature and the issues of human, which can be seen throughout the past and the present. ● His long time subject, 'The journey of circulation/a period between Ark & Kangmok' implicitly presents the scope and the journey of the piece. In other words, 'Ark' that survived through the Noachian deluge means Western civilization, and 'Kangmok', from the book about the Chinese medicine and medicinal herbs titled 'Boncho Kangmok'(Compendium of Material Media), is the symbol of Eastern thought. This shows the confluence of 'civilization' that has been represented by the West and the 'nature' that is symbolized by the East and expresses the artistic spectrum that traces the spatio-temporal memories belonging to the essence of being under the circulating structure of man and nature, in human's vertical growth process and horizontal solidarity. At the same time, it is dreaming of the true reconciliation between civilization and nature through genuine communication of humans and nature.
