씽킹 미디어 Ⅳ

건국대학교 뉴미디어아트연구소는 2018년 첫 기획 전시로서 제4회 thinking MEDIA Ⅳ展을 5월2일 수요일부터 5월8일 화요일까지 일주일간 개최한다. 이 전시는 캐나다, 핀란드, 그리스, 독일, 말레이시아, 스위스, 영국, 일본, 태국, 폴란드, 한국 11개국 21명의 작가들의 procedural 무빙 이미지, 비디오, 영화, 가상현실, 애니메이션, 회화, 사진, 그래픽으로 구성된다. ● thinking MEDIA Ⅳ展은 2012년부터 시작되어 지금까지 세 번의 전시를 진행한 시청각 플랫폼으로, 창의적 표현으로 미디어를 탐험하고 고찰하는 글로벌 작가들이 전시를 통해 현대 미술 전문가 그룹을 형성함으로써 만들어지게 되었다. ● thinking MEDIA는 주제를 기반으로 한 전시가 아니다. 오히려 전시 참여 작가 간의 연결선을 도출해내는 큐레이팅 프로세스를 통해 문자로 한정짓지 않고 다양한 미디어 언어를 통해 이 시대를 조망하고자 했다. ● thinking MEDIA Ⅳ展은 우리가 아직 경험하지 못한 예술가들의 독특한 관점으로 여러분을 초대한다. ■ 신진식_허정철

thinking MEDIA introduction ● Thinking MEDIA is an audio-visual platform that was established in 2012 and has held three editions since then. This exhibition is made possible by forming a group of contemporary art practitioners who are continually exploring media for their own creative expression integrating with subjects of their personal interests. ● Thinking MEDIA is not a theme-based exhibition, it rather prefers to respect each artists' own creative world and their practices through a curatorial process of possible connections among the participants. This edition introduces an international program consisting of works by renowned artists who have been working with a specific media for a long time, as well as works by young promising artists whose works have been gaining recognition. It also features a number of talented artists' recent and previous works that are shown for the first time to the world on this occasion. ● In this fourth edition, the exhibition presents a total of 21 artists from around the globe, including Canada, Finland, Germany, Greece, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Poland, Switzerland, Thailand and UK. Participating works include animation, film, graphic imagery, painting, photography, procedural art, video and virtual reality. ● Thinking MEDIA IV invites viewers and audiences to visit each participating artists' unique views into our world that we probably have not experienced yet. Thinking MEDIA also hopes that this art platform will continue to grow in future editions, to carry on its contribution to the public through presenting inspiring artists and their most representative as well as new and challenging works. ■ Jinsik Shin_Jung-Chul Hur
