CEBUANO ● 권양훈과 설소영의 '미학의 거리'는 필리핀 세부 Cebu다. 권양훈은 도시와 행인의 미학적 상관관계를 예리한 디자인 감각으로 탐색했다. 작가는 색의 균형이 폭발하고, 조화로움이 어긋나며, 낯익음이 낯설음으로 변하는 파격의 순간을 놓치지 않았다. 그리하여 세부는 더 이상 우리가 아는 관광도시로 나타나지 않는다. 그의 사진과 더불어 우리는 태평양의 한 도시의 기이함 속으로 잠행하는 경험을 한다. 반면 설소영의 세부Cebu 풍경은 너무나 평이하고 평온하다. 아무 일도 일어나지 않으며, 시간의 흐름도 게으름을 피우는 듯하다. 그러나 자세히 들여다보면 조금도 심심하지 않다. 내걸린 빨래는 우연한 색상의 조화를 뽐내며, 마당을 쏘다니는 닭들의 자태는 꽤나 개성적이다. 그리고 낡은 건물의 구조와 배열, 그 색상은 어디 하나 흥미롭지 않은 것이 없다. 싱겁지 않은 미감을 제공한다. 작가는 세부Cebu 사진의 세부를 들여다보는 재미를 관람객에게 균형 잡힌 시각언어로 제공한다. 다시 한 번 세부의 하찮은 세부를 보시길... ■ 최봉림

The Street of Esthetics by Yang hun Kwon and So young Seol treats Cebu in the Philippines. Kwon explored the esthetic correlation between the city and pedestrians with a sharp sense of design. The artist didn't miss the disruptive moment in which the balance of colors implodes, harmony is disarrayed, and familiarity turns into strangeness. Thus, Cebu does not appear as the tourist destination as we know it. Through his photography, we experience a stealthy passage into the oddity of a city in the Pacific. On the other hand, So young Seol 's scene in Cebu is so plain and calm. Nothing happens, and even the passage of time seems to be slacking off. However, on a closer look, it is anything but boredom. The laundry hung out flaunts the chancy harmony of colors, while the chickens trotting in the yard present quite a distinctive look. And things are all so intriguing about the structure, arrangement, and colors of the old buildings. It delivers a sense of beauty which is anything but dull. The artist presents the audience with the fun of looking into the Cebu photography in a balanced visual language.
