바디 페인팅 포토그래프 2017

바디 오브 아트는 알루미늄 판의 몸 프린팅으로부터 시작된다. 템페라 페인트를 내 몸에 바른 채, 나는 뒹굴고, 짓누르고, 굽히고, 몸의 형태를 바꾸고, 비비며 삶 속에 살아있으려는 노력을 한다. 이러한 동작들의 기록을 다른 색들로 겹겹이 쌓아올린다. 페인팅이 끝나면, 거의 완전한 암흑 속에서의 플래쉬로 사진이 만들어진다. 나는 카메라 플래쉬로부터 오는 빛이 무엇을 보여줄 지를 결정하게 만든다. 그 뒤, 이 사진들은 람다 씨-프린트 기법을 활용해 원래의 알루미늄 판 페인팅과 같은 사이즈로 완성된다. ● 아티스트의 몸은 세상을 측정한다. 몸은 줄자이거나 하나의 방법이며, 형이상학적 결과를 위한 사실적인 법칙이 된다. ■ 제랄드 프라이어

This body of art starts with body prints made on aluminum sheets. Tempera paint is applied to my body and I proceed to roll over, place hard, kneel down, shift in place, undulate, in an effort to exist in life. A record of those movements, done in layers of different colors is put down. Once the painting is made, a photograph is made in almost near darkness with a flash. I am allowing for a chance of light coming from flash to determine what can be seen. Subsequently, the photographs are produced as lambda c-prints the same size as the original paintings on aluminum. ● The artist’s body measures the world. The body is the method or ruler, which allows a concrete laying down for a metaphysical result. ■ GERALD PRYOR
