문래 서유기란 이름으로 아시아의 현대미술 에너지를 보여주는 전시로 한국 중국 일본 인도 순회전 형식으로 진행된다. 동쪽으로 향하는, 혹은 동쪽이라는 관념 속에 오리엔탈리즘부터 탈식민주의에 이르는 담론이 재생산되고 있지만, 한중일의 고전이며 지금도 재해석되는『서유기』라는 모티브를 통해 인도와 한중일 미술에 대한 네트워크를 강화하고 작가들의 작업 세계를 탐색하고자 한다. 이번 전시를 통해 주목하자 하는 것은 서유기에서 우리에게 준 상상력처럼 우리가 살고 있는 것과는 다른 질서가 통용되거나 우리의 현실적 질서로는 도저히 포용할 수 없는 '또 다른 세계'에 대한 작가들의 해석이다. ■ 이한수

It is an exhibition showing the energy of contemporary art in Asia under the name of "MoonRae Seoyugi"- MoonRae Western. Although the discourse from Orientalism to postcolonialism is reproduced in the notion of eastward or eastward, the network of India, Korea, China and Japan is strengthened through the motto "Seoyugi", a classic of Korea, and it may lead to explore in the world of artists' work.
