공우성 co-dominance

ART SPACE GROVE(아트스페이스 그로브)는 9 월 14 일부터 10 월 11 일까지 김남훈의 개인전 『codominance 공우성』展을 개최한다. 이번 전시는 신작을 포함하여 독일에서는 발표된 국내 미발표 작품들로 구성되며, 지난 독일에서의 『co-dominance』展의 연장이다. 전시 제목 『co-dominance 공우성』展은 멘델의 유전법칙의 예외 법칙 중 하나로 우성 형질만 발현되는 우열의 원리와는 달리 각각의 유전 형질이 모두 동등하게 발현되는 현상을 말한다. 즉, 생물학에서는 발현되는 유전형을 우성, 발현되지않는 것을 열성이라 하는데 공우성에서는 우열 관계없이 각각의 형질이 모두 발현되는 공존 공생의 상태를 이루게 된다.

작가는 경제논리 저변의 현대 사회의 구조와 도시 안에서 수많은 오류들로 구분 지어진 정상과 비정상 그리고 가치의 척도에 질문하며 수년간 무겁게 사라짐과 흔적을 기록함으로써 그것에 반하는 어긋난 태도를 보여왔다. 이러한 사유의 흔적을 그의 작가 노트 한 구절에 찾아볼 수 있다.

"Heilen(치유하다)의 개념이 들어있다면 아마도 내가 만난 도시 안에 상처들을 찾아다니고, 이야기들을 어루만지는 그런 애무의 행위 일 겁니다. 비록 내가 내 몸의 생겨나는 상처들을 기록하고, 망가진 건물을 테이핑하고, 철거된 건물의 잔해를 모으고, 그것을 또 소독약에 담그고, 도시 안에 콘크리트 틈 사이에서 애처롭게도 자리 잡은 풀에 마시는 물을 주는 행위는 마치 치유하는 모습처럼 보이지만, 그것이 약하고 병들고 더럽고 아름답지 않다고 인식하는 인간 중심적인 사고와 관점에서 바라보는 오류들을 이야기하기 위해 내가 할 수 있는 것은 겨우 그 반대되는 것에 힘을 보태는 것이었어요." ■ 아트스페이스 그로브

Art space grove invites KIM Nam Hoon to our exhibition 『co-dominance』展 from 14th September to 11th October. This exbition he displays his new art works and some pieces that hasn't been open to public in his previous exhibition 『co-dominance』展 in Germany. Therefore, this exhibition can be considered as an extension of his previous show. The title of the exhibition is codominance which is one of the exceptions of Mendel's law of heredity. It means that in allelic character crossbreeding of a thoroughbred, unlike the principle of superiority which means that in first filial generation only dominant traits manifest itself, both genetic traits are manifested. In biology, there are dominant traits which are manifested thus, gene expression is possible only for the dominant traits but in co- dominance dominant traits and recessive traits, which can't be manifested in a normal condition, co-exist. ● The artist has always recorded truthfully the structure of modern society beyond economic logics, false fine lines between being normal and abnormal and the criterion of values. Moreover, he did not support them and this can be found in one of his notes. ● "If there is a concept of Heilen in it then this means the activities like searching for wounds of the city and listening to all the stories are in fact a caress. Everything that I did such as recording all my wounds, taping destroyed buildings, collecting remains of demolished buildings and then putting them in disinfectant, watering plants that are lamentably situated in cracks of concrete were the only things that I could do to talk about the false anthropocentric view of precepting them as weak, ill, dirty and ugly is wrong. I had to do was the opposite. Having affection, just being sedulous." ■ ART SPACE GROVE
