보이지 않는 도시들 Le citta invisibile

「One Wild Night」작업은 내가 살고 있는 한국 도시의 방치된 공간들을 탐색해서 사진으로 기록한 프로젝트이다. 도시의 사회적인 문제가 되는 요소들이 낮보다는 밤에 더욱 명확하게 드러나는 것에 착안하여 시작하게 되었다.삶의 터전에서 그리 멀리 떨어지지 않은 장소로부터 생소하게 느껴질 수 있는 도시의 대조적인 모습을 찾아내어 사진으로 기록 후 비현실적인 색감으로 이미지를 조작하여 더욱 낯설고 초현실적인 도시풍경으로 표현하고자 하였다. 그리고 이미지를 통해 현실과 가상인지 구분할 수 없는 혼란스러운 도시의 모습과 미성숙한 도시의 실체를 사진으로 이야기 풀어내고자 한다.작업을 통해 한국에서만 관찰되는 사회적인 문제에 대한 탐구, 산업화, 도시화로 인해서 우리가 사는 환경이 왜 이렇게 파괴되고 피폐한 현상 들이 생겼는지에 대해 예술가로서 질문을 던지고자 한다. ■ 박찬배

「One Wild Night」 is a project that I explored the neglected spaces of Korean cities where I lived in then recorded those as photography. The project was born based on the idea that the elements which became the social problems in the urban spaces are revealed more clearly at night rather than the daytime. In the project, the urban contrastive figures that felt strange from the place not so far from the residential areas are recoreded as photos and the images are manipulated by using unrealistic colors to express the strange and surrealistic urban landscape. Also the substance of the immature city and the confusing urban figure which is not distinguishable from reality and virtuality is shown through the image and photography. As an artist, I tried to explore the social problems only observed in Korea through the work and throw questions of how our environment is destroyed and how the devastating phenomena happens due to the industrialization and urbanization. ■ PARKCHANBAE
