KF는 『이주와 정주의 삶-고려사람과 사모셜르 그리고 버려진 공간들』 전시를 오는 4월 6일부터 28일까지 KF갤러리에서 개최한다. 우크라이나 키예프에 위치한 세르벤코 아트센터와 협력하여 진행되는 이번 전시에서는 한국의 작가 정성태와 우크라이나 아티스트 듀오 크롤리코브스키 아트의 사진작업을 함께 감상할 수 있다. 두 작가(팀)는 이주와 정주라는 키워드로 삶의 흔적과 공간을 관찰하고 기록해 온 사진을 통해 오늘날 우리가 살고 있는 도시와 그 도시 속에서 살아가는 사람들의 삶을 재조명한다.

정성태는 고향을 떠나 우크라이나에 거주하는 고려사람(꼬레이스키)과 고향으로 돌아온 체르노빌 재정착민(사모셜르)이 가진 삶에 대한 애착과 그들의 공간을 적나라하게 사진 속에 담았다.

또한 크롤리코브스키 아트는 전쟁으로 쇠퇴해가는 고향에 대한 작가 본인의 기억을 작품 속에 투영했다. 특정 역사적 사건의 잔해 속에서 살아가고 있는 크롤리코브스키 아트와 그 역사의 현장 속으로 걸어 들어간 정성태의 사진은 현지 주민들의 고단한 이주와 정주의 운명을 여과 없이 보여준다. ● 2017년은 한국-우크라이나 수교 25주년이자 고려인 이주가 시작된 지 80년이 되는 해이다. 그렇기에 더욱 뜻깊은 이번 전시는 서울에 이어 우크라이나 키예프와 드니프르에서 순차적으로 진행될 예정이다. ■ KF 갤러리

From April 6 to 28, the KF Gallery will host an exhibition entitled "Life of Deportation and Settlement: Koryo-saram, Samosely and Abandoned Places in Ukraine". The exhibition, held in cooperation with the Shcherbenko Art Centre in Kyiv, Ukraine, will display photos of Korean artist Jung Sung-tae and Ukrainian art duo Krolikowski Art. ● The foci of the artists' works reveal their strong regional attachments. Jung's photos shed light on the stark reality of the Koryo-saram, ethnic Koreans who were once deported from their homes in the Russian Far East and later settled down in Ukraine, and examine the lives of the Samosely, or "self-settlers", who remained in or returned to the exclusion zone around the site of the Chornobyl nuclear accident, whereas the Krolikowski art mirrors the artists' memories of their own hometown, ravaged by undeclared war that hit Eastern Ukraine. Through Jung's photos, retracing the history of the Koryo-saram resettlement, and his works about the Samosely, who still live amidst the aftermath of Chornobyl tragedy, along with memories attenuation that was grabbed by cameras of Krolikowski Art, the exhibition reflects the exhausting process of letting go of the past. By exploring it through the prism of "deportation and settlement" and recording the results in the form of photography, the artists reinterpret people's lives and surroundings. ● 2017 marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and Ukraine in 1992, as well as the 80th anniversary of the mass deportation of ethnic Koreans from the Russian Far East in 1937. In this regard, the Korea Foundation is very glad to host this exhibition, which will provide an important and meaningful opportunity for visitors to learn about the tragic history of the Koryo-saram and Samosely. ● The exhibition will first be held in Seoul, and then in Kyiv and Dnipro, Ukraine. For interested participants, a talk and a workshop with the artists will be held concurrently with the exhibition. ■ KF Gallery
