불확실한 경계 Undefined Boundaries

주베트남 한국문화원(원장: 이대중)은 한-베 수교 25주년을 기념해 양국의 현대미술을 소개하는 『불확실한 경계 Undefined Boundaries』를 3월 3일부터 3월 31일까지 주베트남 한국문화원과 컨템포러리 아트 센터인 헤리티지 스페이스(Heritage Space)에서 개최한다. 본 사업은 (재)예술경영지원센터의 '국제문화교류 전문인력 양성사업(NEXT Expert Training)'의 일환으로 기획되었으며, 주베트남 한국문화원과 (재)예술경영지원센터가 공동 주최한다.

『불확실한 경계 Undefined Boundaries』는 한국과 베트남에서 활발히 활동 중인 3, 40대 작가 8인(기슬기, 백현주, 이우성, 조혜진, 우담 짠 응우옌, 피 피 와잉, 부이 콩 칸, 라이 티 지에우 하)를 초청해 이들의 다양한 작품 세계를 소개하고자 마련되었다. 하노이 헤리티지 스페이스와 공동 기획된 이 전시는 양국 작가들의 시각으로 해석한 "경계"를 주제로 회화, 사진, 설치, 비디오 등 다양한 장르의 작품을 선보일 예정이다. 전통과 현대의 경계, 이상과 현실의 경계, 개인과 사회의 경계 등 동시대 작가들의 고민을 살펴보고 한국과 베트남 사회 전반에 벌어지는 변화와 현상을 이야기하고자 한다. 이 전시는 같은 아시아권에 속한 한국과 베트남의 작가들이 가진 다양한 시각적 관점을 발견할 수 있는 기회가 될 것이다.

또한 전시 기간 중 3월 16일부터 3월 17일까지 양 일간 한국과 베트남의 시각예술 전문가 8인(박가희, 이관훈, 이경민, 채연, 안 투안 응우옌, 린 푸엉 응우옌, 알레트 꾸잉 짠, 뉴 후이 응우옌)을 초청해 양국 미술교류 방향을 모색하는 라운드테이블이 진행될 예정이다. "미술관과 갤러리, 독립 예술공간, 아트 콜렉티브, 크리틱과 저널리즘"을 주제로 각 국의 미술계를 이야기하는 토론이 진행된다. 행사 첫 날은 주베트남 한국문화원에서 전문가 8인의 토론이 진행되며, 이들은 시각예술계 현황을 공유하고 추후 상호교류 가능한 접점을 찾아본다. 3월 17일은 헤리티지 스페이스에서 베트남 현지 미술 관계자 및 일반 대중을 상대로 한국 패널 4인의 발제와 토론이 진행되며 한국과 베트남 현대미술 교류 가능성에 대해 자유롭게 이야기하는 자리를 마련한다.

지난 25년 간 한국과 베트남 양국의 물적, 인적 교류는 큰 성장을 거듭해왔지만 시각예술 분야의 교류는 매우 표면적으로 이루어져왔다. 가깝고도 먼 양국의 관계를 은유하는 『불확실한 경계』는 보다 적극적인 방법으로 시각예술 네트워킹을 형성하기 위한 프로젝트이다. 양국의 작가 및 현대미술 관계자들이 한자리에 모여 전시와 토론을 진행함으로써 풍성한 담론을 형성하고 활발한 상호 교류의 장이 펼쳐지길 기대한다. ■ 주베트남한국문화원

Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam (Director: Dae Joong Lee) presents Undefined Boundaries to introduce Korean and Vietnamese contemporary art in the occasion of two countries' 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations. It will be held in Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam and a contemporary art center, Heritage Space in March 3-31. This initiative was organized as a program of 'NEXT Expert Training' of Korea Arts Management Service(KAMS) and is co-hosted by Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam and Korea Arts Management Service(KAMS). ● Undefined Boundaries invites 8 artists (Seulki Ki, Heaven Beak, Woosung Lee, Hyejin Jo, Uudam Tran Nguyen, Phi Ph Oanh, Bui Cong Khanh, Lai Thi Dieu Ha) in their 30s and 40s who are active working in domestic and international to introduce their world of art. This project was co-organized with Hanoi contemporary art center—Heritage Space—and presents arts in various forms such as painting, photography, installation, and video centered around the theme of "boundary" with which the artists have reinterpreted. It will be an opportunity to take a look at what contemporary artists have thought in terms of the boundaries between the tradition and the contemporary, ideal and reality, individual and society. Also, the project will deal with the changes and phenomena which unfold in the in Korean and Vietnamese society. It will be a chance to discover diverse visual perspectives of the artists from Korea and Vietnam, both within Asia. ● During the exhibition period, we are hosting a roundtable with 8 invited professionals of visual arts from Korea and Vietnam (Gahee Park, Gwan-hoon Lee, Lucida Kyungmin Lee, Tiffany Yeon Chae, Anh Tuan Nguyen, Linh Phuong Nguyen, Arlette Quynh-Anh Tran, Nhu Huy Nguyen) in March 16 and 17. The discussion on each country's art scenes will be held around the theme "Museum and Gallery, Independent Art Space, Art Collective, Critic and Journalism." On the first day of the event, 8 invited experts will participate in a discussion at Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam to share the current state of visual arts in a search for further intersections for exchange. In March 17, four Korean panels will make presentations and hold discussion for the local art professionals at Heritage Space. It will be an occasion to talk about the potential of exchange between Korea and Vietnam in the visual arts. ● For the past 25 years, Korea and Vietnam have achieved continued growth in terms of material and human exchange. Yet the exchange in visual arts has only been carried out in an ostensible level. Undefined Boundaries, a metaphor of the relation of both countries which are both far away and close, is a project with a purpose to establish networks in the visual arts in an active way. We expect a rich discourses and active exchanges to unfold from the exhibition and discussion where artists and professionals of contemporary art from both countries assemble. ■ Cultural Center in Vietnam
