인천아트플랫폼 공공미술 프로젝트 『2016 플랫폼 퍼블릭 아트 프로덕션』은 한국메세나협회 지역특성화매칭펀드 사업과 인천문화재단의 문화예술 기부캠페인 '아트레인(ARTrain)'이 만나 진행되었다. 플랫폼 퍼블릭 아트 프로덕션은 문화예술 발전을 지지하는 뜻있는 인천 기업들의 후원으로 기업 메세나를 통해 문화예술을 함께 만들어 나간다는 특별한 의미를 담고 있다. 인천아트플랫폼 야외 곳곳에 설치된 다양한 예술 작품들은 일상적 생활공간이자 삶이 머무는 공간이 되어 시민들과 함께 호흡하고자 한다.

김나영 & 그레고리 마스_One Best Way_주물, 황동_276×230×11cm_2016

김나영 & 그레고리 마스 Nayoungim & Gregory Maass ● 「One Best Way」라는 제목이 시사하듯이 'Yes' 또는 'No'로 전개되는 흐름도는 제한된 상황 안에서 극적인 선택을 해야 하는 상황을 제안한다. 작품에 등장하는 의문의 문장과 이미지들은 연인과 헤어지는 사적이고 감정적인 상황을 묘사하며, 관람객들에게 수수께끼와 같은 의문을 남기는 동시에 최소한의 힌트로 작용한다. 작가는 개항장이 지닌 국가의 생존에 관한 역사성에 주목하며 인천아트플랫폼의 장소적 특성, 인천의 역사와 문화, 사회적 사건과 이슈들을 은유적으로 표현한다. 이들은 다양한 형태의 문화를 차용, 변형해 작업에 등장시키거나 문학 또는 상투적 이야기를 각색해 유머러스한 비틀기의 작업방식을 취한다. 작품 행간에 묻혀있는 패러디와 농담, 은유는 관람객들을 설득하기보다는 다양한 해석의 가능성을 열어두고 있다. * 본 작품은 (주)경인기계의 후원으로 제작되었습니다.

서해영 Haeyoung Seo ● 「네트-워크 in 인천」은 작가가 인천에서 만난 여러 다양한 사람들과 함께 공동 제작한 타피스트리 작업으로 총 세 개의 이미지로 구성되었다. '타피스트리(tapestry)'는 손으로 직물을 짜서 이미지를 만드는 섬유예술 뜻하는 단어로 작가는 인천 현지에서 구한 그물, 나이론, 폐현수막 등과 같은 재료를 이용해 작품을 제작하였다. 실을 엮어 이미지를 쌓아 올리는 이러한 제작 방식은 다양한 사람들의 삶에 대한 이야기를 한데 모아 묶는다는 데에 그 의미가 닮아 있다. 인천에 오랫동안 살았던 사람들에 대한 기억을 담은 홍예문 풍경과(가운데), 인천에 처음 온 사람들이 받은 인상과 추억들을 담은 인천 바닷가 풍경(양 옆)은 공동 창작활동 안에서 서로간의 '차이'를 이해하고 '소통'하는 과정을 보여준다. 작가는 다양한 사람들과 함께 작품을 완성해 나가며 단순히 '작품' 으로서의 완결성이 아닌, 지역커뮤니티와 다양하게 관계 맺는 방식을 통해 예술의 역할과 의미를 성찰하게 한다. * 본 작품은 한국닛켄(주)의 후원으로 제작되었습니다.

임상현_품다_볼트, 너트, 와셔, 우레탄도색_가변설치_2016

임상현 Yim Sang Hyeon ● 임상현은 기업후원으로 받은 볼트, 너트를 가지고 동물들과 나무 형상의 작품을 만들었다. 부엉이, 개와 같이 우리주변의 친숙한 형태로 작품을 제작함으로써 인천아트플랫폼에 방문하는 모든 이에게 따뜻함과 친근함을 전달하고자 한다. 작가는 따뜻한 기부자의 마음, 작품 그리고 관람객이 만나 인천아트플랫폼이 따뜻한 휴식의 공간으로 거듭나길 바라는 마음을 담았다고 한다. * 본 작품은 (주)평산기공에서 기부받은 볼트, 너트로 제작된 작품입니다.

레이박_빛이 피어나다_전구 꽃 130개와 빛의 나비들_전구, LED조명, 스텐_가변설치_2016

레이박 Ray Park ● 레이박의 작품은 빛의 정원이다. 작가는 빛을 발하는 전구를 하나의 생명에 비유하며 빛을 꽃피우는 공간(space)에서 삶이 머무르는 공간(place)으로 만들고자 한다. 설치된 130여개의 전구는 어둠과 함께 빛을 통해 꽃으로 피어나고 그 위에 나비들이 자유롭게 유영한다. 작가는 근대 건축의 형태를 간직한 공간 안에서 빛과 어둠, 미래와 과거를 공존(共存)시키며 현대적 빛의 정원을 재탄생 시킨다. 인천아트플랫폼이 빛으로 개화하는 꽃과 나비 작품을 통해 어두운 밤에도 인천시민들이 사색할 수 있는 장소가 되길 바란다고 작가는 이야기한다. *본 작품은 (주)경인기계, 영림목재(주), (주)평산기공, 한국닛켄(주) 후원으로 제작되었습니다.

김주호 Kim Jooho ● 근엄한 돌조각상이 속삭이듯 말하는 "당신이 최고" 작가는 우리들의 일상과 서로 다른 사람과의 만남, 수많은 이야기들, 삶 속에 자리 잡은 여유를 바탕으로 해학과 위트, 유머를 담은 조각 작업들을 진행해 왔다. 김주호 작업을 통해 인간의 기쁨과 슬픔, 선과 악, 분노와 체념, 희망과 욕망 등은 그의 시선과 마주하며, 희망과 낙관을 기다리는 여유 있는 미륵이자 자신과 이웃의 모습으로 재탄생 된다. 작가는 작품의 군상이 의자에 앉은 관람객과 어깨를 나란히 하며 서로 존중과 신뢰를 갖는 친구이자 동반자가 되길 바란다고 이야기 한다. 각박한 사회를 살아가며 황폐해져가는 현대인들에게 따듯한 희망과 격려의 메시지를 전하고 있다. 인천아트플랫폼 길목에 위치한 「당신이 최고」는 유쾌한 만남의 이야기가 시작되는 자리가 될 것이다. * 본 작품은 영림목재(주)의 후원으로 제작되었습니다. ■ 인천아트플랫폼

Incheon Art Platform's Public Art Project 『2016 Platform Public Art Production』 was initiated by the Local Specialization Matching Fund of Korea Mecenat Association along with IFAC's culture & art donation campaign 'ARTrain'. Platform Public Art Production implies a special meaning that creates culture and art through Mecenat from Incheon-based corporations supporting culture and art development. Various artistic works installed outside the Incheon Art Platform long to share breaths with citizens as ordinary living spaces or spaces where life resides in.

Nayoungim & Gregory Maass_One Best Way_Casting, Brass _276×230×11cm_2016 Nayoungim & Gregory Maass' works is as the title 'One Best Way' suggests, the flow chart only developing with 'Yes' or 'No' proposes a situation in which dramatic choices must be made. Questionable sentences and images portray private and emotional situations of a broken couple while giving a minimum hint. The artist focuses on historicity of national survival that open port risked. This leads the artist to present Incheon Art Platform's spatial nature, history and culture of Incheon, social events and issues all in metaphorical ways. These works borrow, transform various forms of culture or dramatize cliché for humorous twisting. Parodies, jokes, and metaphors between the lines wide open the possibility of multiple interpretations.

Haeyoung Seo_Net-Work in Incheon _130×880cm_Stainless steel, Net, Nylon thread, Banne_2016 Haeyoung Seo's 「Net-Work in Incheon」 consists of three images in tapestries co-produced with a lot of people the artist met in Incheon. 'Tapestry' means textile art made by hands in order to present an image. The artist used materials such as nets, nylon, used banners obtained in Incheon. Piling images with weaved threads resemble the way many people gathered to share their stories on life. The landscape of the arched gate(center) with which people who have lived in Incheon for a long time have memories and the landscape of the sea(both sides) that offers impressions and memories of Incheon to newcomers show how participants understand each other's 'difference' and 'communicate' during the art work. Yim Sang Hyeon_Embrace_Dimension Variable_Bolt, nut, Wachers, Urethane_2016 Lim Sang-hyun produced trees and animals with donated bolts and nuts. Lim created familiar animals like dogs and owls to deliver warmth to every visitor in Incheon Art Platform. The artist stated that warm donator's heart, the work and the audience will made the Incheon Art Platform born again as a warm rest place through this work.

Ray Park_Light Blooms_130 bulb flowers and butterflies of light_Dimension Variable_Light bulb, LED Lighting, Stainless steel_2016 Ray Park's work is a garden of lights. The artist compares a bulb to a life and tries to make the light-blooming space to life-residing space. 130 installed bulbs bloom as flowers in the darkness and above them, butterflies freely fly on. In the modern architectural space, the artist makes light and darkness, past and future coexist to give a birth to today's garden of lights. Incheon Art Platform hopes to be a place where Incheon citizens come to think around light-blooming flowers and butterflies, the artist says.

Kim Jooho_You Are the Best_Granite stone_135×56×147cm_2016 Sober stone figure whispers "You are the best." Kim Jooho has created sculptures containing humor and wit based on our daily life, meeting with other people, various stories and relaxed spirit in life. The works of Kim Ju-ho are born again as a composed Buddha waiting for hope and optimism and figures of oneself and neighbors at the same time. The artist hopes that the sculpture becomes a friend and a partner to the audience sitting on a chair having respect and trust to each other. In a heartless society, devastated people get warm hopes and encouraging messages from the Buddha figure. Located on the way to the Incheon Art Platform, 「You Are the Best」 can be a place where stories about joyous meeting begin. ■ INCHEON ART PLATFORM
