Kim and Hong first show 킴앤홍 프로젝트

김앤홍 (Kim and Hong)은 작가 김규식과 현홍의 '전시 브랜드'이다. 이 프로젝트는 매년 한 차례, 각자의 젤라틴 실버 프린트를 공동으로 전시해보겠다는 두 작가간의 약속이다. 앞으로 10년 동안, 총 10회의 전시를 계획하고 있으며, 이번이 그 첫 번째 전시이다. 두 작가의 미적 지향점은 사뭇 다르다. 그간의 작품과 이력을 비교해보면 분명해 보인다. 그러나 그 둘의 촉을 건드리는 두 개의 연결고리가 있다. 사진에 대한 애정이 그 첫 번째이고, 흑백 은염 프린트에 대한 열정이 그 두 번째이다. 소재와 주제로 묶이는 공동 전시는 흔하다. 그러나, 일정한 형식적 제한을 전제하고, 그 테두리 내에서 작가적 기량과 상상력을 실험하고자 하는 전시는 흔하지 않다. 10년이라는 짧지 않은 시간, 두 작가의 공동전시는 서로의 작품세계를 더욱 풍부하게 할 것이며, 또한 변모하는 작업들은 일종의 사진적 히스토리가 될 수 있음을 기대해본다. 올해는 첫 전시를 기념하여 김진호 작가도 함께 한다. 감사 드린다. ■ 아트스페이스 J

'Kim & Hong' is an exhibition series by photographers Gyoosik Kim and Hyun Hong. This project is a promise between these two artists to collaborate in the exhibition of their gelatin silver prints once a year. 'Kim & Hong Project' is supposed to be held ten times in the next ten years, and this year marks the beginning of the ten-year project. It is true that the artistic intentions of Kim and Hong are far apart; the difference is clear when the two photographers' previous pieces of work and career are compared. Nonetheless, there are two connecting links between Gyoosik Kim and Hyun Hong. The passion for photography is the first affinity, and the special ardor for traditional black and white gelatin silver print is the second. Organizing group exhibitions by subject or artistic materials is by no means unusual. As a duo exhibition, however, it is an unconventional attempt to experiment each photographer's artistic ability and imagination under the premise of formal limitation such as traditional black and white gelatin silver print. For ten years, this group exhibition project will enrich each photographer's art work and also make photographic history by performing diverse transfigured art works.
