감춰진 기억 - 낭만적인 숭고

『감춰진 기억 – 낭만적인 숭고 (Romantic sublime)』展에 전시될 드로잉과 평면 회화는 허브 시리즈로 '인간의 기억 속에 감춰진 내·외부적 요인에 의한 갈등, 공포와 두려움, 그것들로 기인된 여러 다면성에 대한 치유'를 기본 화두로 하고 있다. 나 자신의 감춰진 기억으로부터 시작된 예술가의 창작 의지와 인간의 원(怨)과 한(恨)의 실체인 마음의 병을 치유하는 '바이오 코드'로 꽃과 약초, 그리고 텍스트를 통해 현대인에게 기원하며 바치는 헌화(獻花)의 의미를 담고 있다.

이 작품들은 대상 또는 기억의 재현을 통해 어떤 고정된 이미지와 의미를 전달하는 것이 아니라, 대상으로부터, 기억으로부터 유추된 인상을 종교적 경전이나 고백 문의 텍스트를 분해하고, 재조립하여 이미지와 결합해 관념의 텍스트가 아닌 절대적 봄의 텍스트로 완성해 '독해'와 '매혹'의 중간 어느 지점에서 관객과 마주하게 되기를 기다리는 존재이다. 그것은 내가 만들어낸 이미지-텍스트가 인용하고 있는 문자의 의미와 사용하고 있는 예술적 수단을 넘어서 새롭게 열리는 만남의 공간에서 존재하기를 바라는 것이다. 또한, 그 만남이 끊임없이 춤추며 진동하는 수많은 인간의 눈동자들과 같이 언제나 빛을 기다리는 순수한 '비어 있음'과 동시에 그 자체로 눈부시게 빛나는 '충일(充溢)'을 지향하는 것이라고 할 수 있다. ■ 오윤석

"Hidden Memories – Romantic Sublime" will be exhibiting the drawings and paintings of Herb series based on 'hidden conflict and fear in human's memory caused by internal or external factor and the cure of these various aspects'. The exhibition contains my artistic will of creation from my hidden memories with flower, medical herb and texts as 'the Bio Code' to cure the illness of the mind, the truth of human's grudge, to pray and devote modern people as the meaning of a floral tribute. This artwork encompasses analogized impression from a memory or a subject with separated and reassembled religious scriptures or confession texts with an image and this faces the viewer in between reading comprehension and fascination. I wish my created images to exist in new meeting place where passes over the meaning of the quoted text of my image-text and aesthetic method. Furthermore, as if numerous human's eyes are dancing and vibrating, this meeting pursues pure 'emptiness' which always awaits the light and concurrently affluence which glows itself. ■ Oh YeounSeok
