달콤(Süßigkeit, Sweet) ● 작은 돈으로 쉽게 얻을 수 있는 Sweet는 그 달콤함이 우리를 행복하게 만들어 준다. 우리 곁에 늘 있고, 흔한 이 작은 손안에 Sweet는 작가에게 있어서 우리가 인생에서 쉽게 잊고 혹은 보지 못하고 지나치는 일상적인 작은 행복과 같다. 투명포장 된 Sweet는 그 모양이 왜곡되거나 변형되어 보이고 그 색 또한 달라 보이기도 한다. 그 포장이 Sweet를 더 돋보이게 혹은 더 아름답게 만들어 주기도 하지만 본 모습을 가리기도 한다. 이 무채색의 포장이 우리의 작고 쉬운 행복 또한 새롭고 아름답게 만들어 줄 수도… ■ 최보윤

I often use imagery of sweets. Sweets are banal, mundane consumer products, but at a single glance, they can they make your mouth water with anticipation thanks to their showy colors and transport you a world of bliss when you actually eat them. For me, sweets are equivalent to happiness. In my art, sweets have an ambiguous aspect: on the one hand, they're common items easily purchased from a store. On the other hand, they're intertwined with some of our happiest moments - and happiness can never be bought. Sweets can bring people together, and there is no better way to celebrate the joy of life. Sweets evoke memories of the viewers' own happiest moments, making them feel like they can actually taste the image. I like to create art that can lure, charm, tease, and disarm. ■ CHOIBOYUN
