노트 : 관계 The notes : The relationship

관계에 대해 쓴 10개의 노트들을 디자인한 한국 수화의 지화(자음, 모음)를 이용해 표현했다. 수화는 누구에게는 의미 없는 동작이지만 누구에게는 언어가 되고, 어느 공간에 누구와 있느냐에 따라 단순한 언어가 될 수도 있고 은밀한 언어가 될 수도 있다. 본 작업들 또한 그러하다. 모르는 언어의 글자는 그저 이미지일 뿐이듯, 누군가에게는 다양한 손동작이 나열되어 있는 이미지이지만 누군가에게는 읽히는 메시지이다. 주제가 관계가 되든 다른 무엇이 되든 지화를 이용한 나의 노트 작업은 나의 작업 중 하나의 시리즈로써 계속에서 진행될 것이다. (암호를 풀 듯 나의 노트를 직접 읽어보고 싶은 사람들과 지화를 알아두고 싶은 사람들을 위해 디자인한 지화를 정리해 브로슈어안에 담았다.) ■ 신영은

My 10 notes about relationship have been manifested by using fingerspelling of Korean sign language. Sign language can be a meaningless movement for someone but it is indeed an important language itself. It can also be considered as a simple talking method but on the other hand, depending on who you are with or where you are, it can contain secret meanings. My whole work is based on this various aspects of a sign language. As a foreign language looks only like an image to someone who does not know the language, a sign language can either be a message or simple hand movements. Regardless of my theme of works, my note work by using designed fingerspelling will continue as a series. (Designed fingerspelling is on the brochure for people who want to know about fingerspelling and to read my notes like cracking a code.) ■ Young Eun Shin
