히든엠갤러리의 세 번째 전시 『Holo:space』가 4월 8일부터 7월 3일까지 열린다. 이계원, 김보민, 송진, 백인교, 총 4명의 작가가 참여하는 이번 전시에서는 선과 면, 그리고 색이라는 2차원의 기본적인 조형요소가 특정한 작업과정을 거쳐 어떻게 3차원을 담아낼 수 있는지를 명료하게 보여준다. '완전한 공간'이라는 의미의 『Holo:space』는 작가가 추구하는 방식을 통해 2차원 요소들을 3차원 공간 안에서 두 차원을 동시에 향유하는, 그 넘나듦을 이야기하고자 오히려 절제와 집중이라는 정직한 형식을 통해 관객에게 질문을 던진다. 단지 한눈에 들여다볼 수 있는 단순함이 아니라, 그것을 넘어선 함축적이고 포괄적인 감상의 여지와 강렬한 경험을 제공하는 최상의 매개체가 될 수 있다는 것 그 자체를. 절제되고 집중력 있는 2차원적 요소들과 관객, 그리고 공간에 흩어져 있는 작품과 개체들의 재구성으로 이루어지는 또 다른 시각적 효과를 통해 3차원 세상에서의 에너지와 그 절묘한 균형 또한 느낄 수 있을 것이다.

공간과 개체로 이루어진 배경에 작은 이미지 요소들을 배치하는 김보민(Bomin Kim)은 여러 장소에 대한 기억들이 복합적으로 축적된 감상을 바탕으로 한 심리적 환경을 재구성한다. 연관성 없이 무작위로 흩어져 있는 인물들은 일상에서 스쳐 간 이들로, 작가가 생각하는 관계의 의미를 간접적으로 상징하는 오브제이자 기억의 매개체이다. 평면과 직선으로 이루어진 공간은 작가 본인이 불특정 공간에서 느꼈던 감각적 경험의 추상적 형태를 시각화하여 생성된다. ● 백인교(Inkyo Back)는 언뜻 보면 철저히 절제된 듯한 집중과 단순함을 통해 그 속에 내포되어 있는 더욱 큰 역동적인 에너지를 표현하고자 한다. 스스로 발산하고 있는 산뜻하고 정갈한 그의 색은 관객으로 하여금 절제와 균형 속의 율동과 생생한 색 속의 정서적 움직임을 포착하게 한다. 이것은 정제된 색과 의식의 흐름이 만들어내는 변주와 착시현상을 통해 관객 스스로가 역동적인 경험을 할 수 있도록 한다. ● 모든 것은 서로 만나 작용하고, 때로는 단순한 조합이 더욱 경이로운 현상을 가져온다. 송진(Zin Helena Song)은 그러한 현상과 상호작용, 그 결과에 대한 호기심을 추구한다. '선, 색, 공간'이라는 기본 요소를 대입한 인터랙션을 통해 선과 도형을 만들어내고, 때로는 착시 효과를 선보인다. 이때 생기는 우연적 시너지 효과는 관객이 바라보는 작품만이 아닌 그 공간의 에너지까지 변화시킨다. 이것은 쉽게 깨질 수 없는 그 공간의 균형이자 작가가 생각하는 '이상적 상태'이다. ● 이계원(Kewon Lee)이 작품의 색다른 환영 'Unusual Illusion'은 "알로트로피즘(Allotropism)"의 개념을 기반으로 한다.이것은 회화의 고유한 조건인 재현과 환영이라는 개념을 확장하고 '지표적 환영(indexical-illusion)'을 회화적인 입체의 개념에 결합하여 또 다른 방식의 환영을 창출해낸다. 이것은 실존하는 것과 그것을 통해 생성된 유추(analogy)로 창출된 '환영이 아닌 환영'으로써 회화의 본질적인 개념을 확장한다. ■ 강나래

The third exhibition of Gallery Hidden M, 『Holo:space』 will be held from April 8 to July 3. The exhibition where 4 artists of Kewon Lee, Bomin Kim, Zin Helena Song and Inkyo Back participate will show in clear ways how basic formative elements of the two-dimension, such as line, plane and color can capture three-dimension through a specific course of work. 『Holo:space』 meaning "full space" asks questions rather than telling the audience the story of the crossing, which enjoys two different dimensions, simultaneously containing the elements of two-dimension in three-dimensional space through the ways artists pursue in honest formats of moderation and concentration. Not just the simplicity of seeing at a glance, but beyond that the very fact that it can be the ultimate medium to provide a room for connotative and comprehensive appreciation and intense experience. Through the moderate and concentrated elements of two-dimension along with the audience as well as another visual effect by reconstruction of works and objects scattered in the area, the energy of three-dimensional world and its perfect balance will also be felt. ● Bomin Kim who arranges small image elements in the background consisting of space and objects reconstructs the psychological environment based on the appreciation where memories of various places are multiply accumulated. People scattered at random without correlation between them are the people who were simply washed over everyday, being the objects and medium for remembrance symbolizing the meaning of the relationship which the artist thought. Space consisting of planes and straight lines is created by visualizing the abstract forms of sensory experiences which the artist felt in an unspecified space. ● All matters interact when they meet each other, and sometimes a simple combination brings a more wondrous phenomenon. Zin Helena Song seeks the curiosity about such phenomenon and interaction as well as its result. Lines and shapes are made through interactions assigning basic elements of 'line, color and space', sometimes unveiling illusions. The incidental synergy effect generated at that time even changes the energy of the space, not just the work which the audience looks at. This is not only the balance state of the space which cannot be easily broken but also an 'ideal state' which the artist sees. ● Through concentration and simplicity seeming thoroughly moderated at a glance, Inkyo Back tries to express a greater dynamic energy contained in it. His neat and tidy colors that radiate themselves let the audience capture the rhythm in moderation and balance as well as emotional movement in vivid colors. It would also allow the audience to taste the dynamic experience themselves through the variation and illusion created by the stream of moderate colors and consciousness. ● 'Unusual Illusion' created by Kewon Lee is based on the concept of "Allotropism." It extends the concept of recreation and illusion which is the intrinsic condition of painting, and combines 'indexical illusion' to the concept of pictorial three-dimension, creating an illusion in a different way. It expands the essential concept of painting with an existing matter and an 'illusion which is not an illusion' created by analogy generated by it. ■

About the Hidden M Gallery ● Hidden M Gallery, along with the Hotel M, utilizes the spatial characteristics of the hotel and its restaurant, while ultimately striving to create a complex-cultural space where global interactions occur. Along with cultivating artists of both domestic and abroad, the gallery advocates genuine passions of all artists, and hopes to expand upon the horizontal market of art, in which sharing of artistic and economic values is possible.
