인천아트플랫폼이 새로운 입주 작가를 맞이했습니다. 인천아트플랫폼은 지난해 11월 정기 공고와 12월 심사를 거쳐 35팀의 7기 입주작가를 선발했습니다. 입주작가에 선정된 이들은 한국, 독일, 미국, 영국, 홍콩, 캐나다, 폴란드 등 7개국 작가로 구성되었으며, 짧게는 3개월 길게는 1년 동안 인천에 머물며 창작 활동을 펼칠 예정입니다. ● 7기 작가들 중 상당수가 인천에 연고를 갖고 있거나 인천의 지역적인 특성에 관심을 가지고 있어 앞으로의 작업 내용이 기대됩니다. 원도심과 신도시가 극명하게 공존하는 인천의 도시성, 도시의 역사와 풍경, 그 의미 등에 주목하여 이를 작품에 투영하고자 하는 고등어, 김춘재, 양유연, 위영일 작가의 작업계획은 본인만의 확고한 작품세계를 이끌어온 이들이 어떻게 작품을 변화시켜 나갈지 궁금증을 자아냅니다 작가의 어머니 고향인 섬 "백아도"를 찾아가 그곳의 과거와 현재의 모습을 연결하고 기록하는 작업을 계획하고 있는 서해영과 인천의 섬 교동도, 백령도 등을 중심으로 섬문화 연구를 통한 스토리텔링을 진행하는 시인 강제윤, 로컬 큐레이팅 방법론에 관련된 연구조사, 비평 및 출판을 계획 중인 채은영 등은 인천에 온 예술가들의 관심이 어디로 향해 있는지를 보여줍니다. 해외 작가의 경우도 인천을 조사하고 연구한 것을 바탕으로 작품을 제작할 예정입니다. 전통적 신화에 관심을 두고 퍼포먼스를 진행해 온 더 바이트 백 무브먼트(영국)는 인천의 신, 혼령에 대한 이야기를 수집하고 이를 글로벌 맥락에서 재구성 하는 작업들을 계획 중이며, 에릭 스캇 넬슨(미국)은 빠르게 조립할 수 있는 가벼운 조형물(light weight art sculptures)을 이용한 퍼포먼스를 인천 전역을 다니며 진행할 예정이고, 보이치에흐 길비츠나 그레이스 은아 김도 인천의 공공장소에 개입(intervention)하는 프로젝트나 현장 설치 작업(installation in situ)을 진행할 예정입니다. ● 인천아트플랫폼은 올 가을 시민들에게 7기 입주작가들의 작업실을 공개하고 작업과정과 작품들을 소개하는 '오픈스튜디오'를 개최할 예정입니다. 인천아트플랫폼에서 창작활동을 펼쳐나갈 7기 입주작가들에게 많은 관심과 성원 바랍니다. 감사합니다. ■ 인천아트플랫폼

Incheon Art Platform (IAP) is pleased to announce the artists-in-residence for 2016. For IAP's seventh year of artist residency, thirty-five teams of artists are selected after the open call in November 2015 and the selection process in the following December. Artists from seven different countries that include South Korea, Germany, United States, United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Canada, and Poland. The selected artists will stay in the city of Incheon from three months to a full year. Incheon Foundation for Arts & Culture, the parent organization of IAP, expressed its high expectations for the results of the program as a number of selected artists show interest in the locality of Incheon, which is a harbor city, while many of them are also based in Incheon. ● Among the participating artists to IAP's A.I.R. program, Mackerel SAFRANSKI, KIM Choons, YANG Yooyun and WEE Youngil are planning to reflect the urbanism of Incheon, the history and landscape of the city and their meanings under the backdrop of Incheon as a city where the old part of the city and the new city coexist. SEO Haeyoung will produce a series of works that connect and record the past and the present of Baega-do island, which is the hometown of the artist's mother. Poet KANG Jeyoon will create a storytelling project based on his research of culture in islands such as Gyodong-do and Baengnyeong-do islands. Curator CHAE Eunyoung will present her research on art criticism and curating the locality, which will be accompanied by a publication. The international artists are also planning to present works based on their research in Incheon. Based on their practice of performance with a focus on traditional mythology, The Bite Back Movement(UK) is planning to present a work where the collected stories about gods and spirits in Incheon is reconstructed under the global context. Eric Scott NELSON(US) will present a performance throughout the city using his light-weight art sculptures. Other artists such as Wojciech GILEWICZ and Grace Euna KIM are also planning to present works that take forms of public intervention or installation in situ. ● During the residency period, an open studio for the public will be provided. The artists in the IAP residency will present the process of their work and share their creative outcomes with the visitors to their studios.
