나의 작업은 평범한 기억을 들여다보고 그림 속에 사색의 편린을 담는다. 나에게 큰 의미의 요소가 타인의 시각엔 아무런 가치를 지니지 않을 때, 이를 고스란히 표현하는 것을 경계하게 된다. 때문에 이를 간접적으로 드러내는 방법으로, 나의 지극히 개인적인 기억과 감정들을 표현함에 있어서 말과 글이 아닌 그림 편지의 개념을 선택하고자 한다. ● 나에게 씨앗으로 대변되는 기억은 단단한 외피로 쌓여있지만 세월을 지나 날선 암석에서 깎여나가 둥근 모습으로 변화된 조약돌과 닮아있다. 이를 통해 단순한 형태 이상의 유사성을 인식하게 된다. 정리하자면, 나의 작업은 이 밖의 소소한 기억들을 기점으로 현재의 '씨앗 작업'같이 하나의 형태를 결정하고, 서로 상이한 가치, 성격들을 지켜보아 내 기록으로 만드는 과정인 것이다. ■ 차현지

Looking into the memories, nothing to be special, my work embodies the fragment of musings by drawing. As something deeply meant to me becomes nothing to others, it would be reluctant to display it as it is. Hence, taking an indirect way, I would like to choose the form of painted letter to express my private memories and feelings rather than that of words or writings. ● The memory, which represents by the seed, has been wrapped with strong husk but ground to be from the sharp rock to the round pebbles over times. It makes me aware of similarity more than just in shapes. In short, my works has a process starting from trivial memories, deciding a unique form such as 'seeds' in current works, and observing distinctive values or features to make my own records. ■ CHAHYUNJEE
