HUMANISTIC 인문주의

시간과 장소를 불문하고, 모든 사회는 불안하다. 그 이유는, 구성원들 사이에는 반드시 이해의 차이가 존재하며 그로인한 마찰 또한 불가피하기 때문이다. 다시 말해, 사회의 모든 문제는 결국 개별자들이 관계 맺는 지점에서 발생한다는 것이다. 그러하기에 우리는 이 경계에 대해 지속적으로 관심을 가져야만 하는데, 이러한 관심은 최종적으로 '인간이란 무엇인가?'라는 질문으로 귀결될 수밖에 없다. 우리는 일반적으로 이러한 사고를 '인문주의(Humanistic)'라고 말한다. ● '인간이란 무엇인가?'라는 질문의 회화적 표현은 몇 단계의 전환을 거쳐야 했다. 처음에는 '인간이 그 외의 것들과 어떻게 구별되는 가?'로, 이것은 곧 '인간이 외부 세계로부터 어떻게 분리되어 존재하는 가?'라는 질문으로 변형됐다. 그리고 이 질문은 그림에서 '인간이란 존재를 어떠한 경계선으로 표현할 것인가?'라는 고민으로 이어졌다.

그 대답은 크게 세 가지의 형식으로 나온다. 하나는 외부와 완전히 분리되어 독립적으로 존재할 수 있다는 것이며, 다른 하나는 형상으로는 분리되지만 세계와 유기적인 관계에 있다는 것이다. 그리고 마지막 하나는, 분리를 위해 필요한 시공간 개념이 불명확하기에 경계 지을 수 없다는 회의적 시각이다. 이것은 작품에서 그림자를 통한 환영, 점선, 표현하지 않음으로 나타난다. 여기서 누락된 것이 있다면 사회적 존재로 인간을 인식하는 것이다. 나는 이것을 작품의 병치를 통해 전한다. ● 전시장에서 작품설치는 인간의 관계성을 형상화하며 사회 구조를 연상시킨다. 부유하듯 존재하거나 군집된, 또는 수평적 위치로 나열된 작품들은, 동일한 방향성을 갖거나 서로 대립하며 다양한 모습으로 놓여 있다. 그렇게 드러난 사회상은 그 안에 존재하는 '인간'의 의미와 '공존'에 대해 돌아보게 한다. 이와 같은 인문주의적 사고들은 답보다 질문 자체가 중요하다. 이번 전시는 그것을 상기시키는데 의미가 있을 것이다. ■ 윤여범

Regardless of time and place, all societies are unstable. The reason is that there are certainly difference of understanding between members and thereby friction is also inevitable. In other words, all the problems of the society eventually occurred at the point where individuals build a relationship. As such, we must have a continuous interest about this boundary, this interest ultimately boils down to the question of 'What is a human?'. We generally say this way of thinking is a 'Humanism'. ● The pictorial expression about the question of 'What is a human?' had to go through a few steps of conversion. The first question is 'Human is how distinguished from the other things?', this soon changed the question of 'Human is how separated from the outside world and existed?'. And this question led to the thought about 'How to express the human existence by which boundary lines?' in picture. ● The answer largely comes in three formats. One is that human is completely separated from the outside world and can exist independently, another is that human is separated by shape but build the organic relationship with the world. And the other is the skepticism which concept of time and space required for the separation is unclear, so it can't build boundary. This appears as a illusion through the shadow, a dotted line, and do not express. If anything is missing here to recognize a human as a social being. I convey this through the juxtaposition of works. ● Installation of the work in the exhibition embody relationship of human and be suggestive of the social structure. Works of art that be in existence as if floating, grouped or listed in horizontal are installed in a variety of appearances while having the same direction or conflicting with each other. The revealed a social aspect remind about meaning of 'human' and 'coexistence' that there exists. Such a though of Humanistic put a premium on the question itself more than answer. This exhibition will be meaningful to remind it. ■ YOONYEOBEOM
