김경애의 『무제의 무제』는 캔바스에 완전히 바르고 파내어 다시 완전히 덮어버리는 반복작업 과정이며 색채에 있어서 최소한을 허용하는 투명한, 두터운, 평면의 깊이가 공존하는 물리적인 공간을 연출하고 있다. 작가는 이러한 표현상의 모색을 통해 자연스럽게 접근되는 방향으로 내 자신과 재료의 합일된 느낌과 더불어 동시대적인 미감과 그 공감을 구현하고자 하는 것이다. 김경애의 『무제의 무제』는 통일된 평면에서 작은면들이 미묘한 변화와 감성적 리듬으로 공간적 깊이를 나타내면서 하나하나의 개체들이 포화되어 나타나며 그 자체가 채워져 있으면서 비워져있는 여백으로 보여진다. 작가는 작업에서 완결점을 찾는것이 아닌 시간과 행위의 반복으로 끝없이 응축하고 누적하는 과정의 연속으로 평면이 주는 실재감과 존재감을 느끼고자한다. ■ 갤러리 데이트

『Untitled』of Kyung-Ae Kim shows the repeating process of painting entirely, by digging up her layers of paint, then again covering completely in a cyclical process. She presents physical spaces in which clear, thick depths of plane coexist, and allows only minimal colours. Moreover, the artist intends to embody a sense of beauty within the contemporary along with a united feeling of herself and her material through this expressive solution. ● The artist presents spatial depth through subtle changes and the sensitive rhythm of small planes, and her art work emerges, where each independent entity is saturated and appears as a blank space, both filled and at the same time empty. The artist does not seek to reach a completion point, but rather maintains an intention to feel the existence and actuality of planes, made by a continuity of endless condensation and an accumulative process through repetitions of time and action. ■ GALLERY DATE
