타자他自의 풍경

이번 작업은 썩어가는 나무와 말라비틀어진 넝쿨, 죽어가는 풀들, 부스러져가는 의자, 장마와 태풍으로 범람했던 하천과 늪지대의 흔적 등 버려지고, 잊혀지고, 지나쳤을 어떤 풍경의 편린들을 거울의 이면에 새기고, 그 새겨져 벗겨내어진 흔적사이로 투과된 수십만 개의 작은 빛들이 만들어낸 이미지이다. ● 나의 작업에서 시작과 끝을 관통하는 지속적인 질문은 보기와 생각하기, 새기기라는 일련의 서사적인 과정 속에서 이루어진다. 그것은 타자他自의 존재와 삶에 관한 것으로 어떤 시간과 공간속에서 가벼워지고 흔적도 없이 사라지는, 어쩌면 소멸되어가는 현대인들의 불안하고 공허한 심리와 과잉으로 치닫는 욕망의 덧없음이다. 이번 작업에서는 익숙한 듯 낯설게 다가온 풍경 안에 찰나적이면서 지속적인 현시대를 살아가는 타자他自들의 삶에 대한 기억과 고민들, 상처와 아픔, 치유와 희망을 이야기 하고 싶었다. ● 존재와 부재의 풍경이 뒤섞여진 이번 작업을 통해서 생성과 소멸이라는 순환의 고리 속 어느 언저리에 자리하고 있을 자아의 위치를 확인하고 생각해보는 나름의 시간과 여유를 찾을 수 있었으면 좋겠다. ■ 김준기

"Landscape of Others" ● This series had made up of images by carving a glimpse of scenes like doty tree and dry, bent ivy, dying grass, crumbling wooden chair, overflown streams after long, rainy days and typhoon, and hundreds of thousands of glimmers, which might have been left out and penetrated. ● A consecutive and descriptive process of seeing, thinking, and carving, which goes through the beginning to the end of my works, might ask you to deeply consider about a chain of questions: What does the existence and the life of the "Others" look like? Eventually, it reflects overwhelmed desires and empty feelings, which are lightened, disappeared, or perhaps perished in the modern society. ● Hope these mixed landscapes of existence and absence will lead you to find where you are located in the circle of creation and dissipation. You might have been somewhere in it. ■ KIMJUNKI
