꿈꾸는 도시 Dreaming City

도시의 허망한 전력질주는 우리의 자연 혹은 자연성을 억압함으로써 가능해진다. 언제 부턴가 우리는 그 목적지를 상실한 채 그저 달리는 것 자체가 목적이 되어버린 것처럼 허망한 전력질주를 계속하고 있다. 그것은 인간의 내면과 외면뿐만 아니라 그가 속하고 있는 주변 환경에도 심각한 영향을 미쳐왔다. 이런 점에서 자연성의 회복은 이제 동시대의 우선적인 화두가 되어야 할 것이다.나의 작업은 이러한 도시와 자연의 갈등에 대한 고민으로 비롯되었다. 우선 주변을 찬찬히 살피는 것으로부터 시작되었다. 굳고 단단한 도시의 외관과 함께 감춰져 있는 도시 혹은 현대인들의 내면을 보다 담담한 눈길로 돌아봄으로써 그늘의 근원을 좇을 수 있게 되기 때문이다. 그리고 그와 같은 의도를 회화, 공간설치, 조각 등 다채로운 매체로써 표현해 왔다. 앞으로의 작업은 회화와 설치의 문맥 안에 그와 같은 주제를 담아낸다. 한 걸음 더 나아가 작업 내부로 들어가면 나의 작업은 현실적인 공간 안에 일련의 비현실적인 상황을 대입함으로써 정체된 현실에 새로운 숨결을 불어넣고자 한다. Dreaming city는 생명체를 연상시키는 이미지 (그것은 씨앗, 나뭇잎이나 물고기, 물방울이나 정자 혹은 세포나 생명체의 최소단위를 연상시켜준다)가 무지개, 날개, 구름 등의 모양으로 특정 공간과 맞물려 자연친화적이고 다양한 상상력을 자아 낼 것이며, 회색빛 도시에 온기 찾기가 될 것이다. ■ 류신정

The life in cities are all circulating rapidly. People are always occupied for their goals, as if they are machines. As a consequence, they do not respect each other and they are not responsible for themselves. To that matter, the objective for this work is to observe closely and reflect upon the rapidness of the city. Through the nature image 「people can imagine water drop, wind, seed, rainbow etc in nature」it reflects the reality of today's daily life and the environment. In addition, this evokes people to be eco friendly. In conclusion, with these progresses the work is trying to warm color this grey city. ■ Ryu, Shinjung
