Healing MOSAIC, 2부_타인과 타인의 대화

"뻔한 말은 일상적 현존재, 곧 비본래적 현존재, 다시 말해, '그들'의 말이다. 이는 다시 말해, 세계-내-존재-로서의 현존재가 도구 연관 속에서, 곧 '작업장'(SZ, s. 120)에서 더불어 있는 타인과 만날 때, 듣게 되고, 하게 되는, 그래서 '함께 나누는'(SZ, s. 120) 말인 것이다. 따라서 이 말은 세계-내-있음으로의 현존재를, 비본래적으로나마, 열어 밝혀주고 있기에 무조건 부정적인 것도 아니며, 결코 사소할 수가 없다. 그것은 우리의 일상적 세계 전체를 지배하고 구성하는 말이다." (홍진기(철학박사, 연세대학교 철학과)) ● 오늘날의 우리 사회는 마치 '1인 사회'가 모여 있는 것과 같은 모습을 하고 있다. 그리고 우리는'나 혼자 산다'와 같은 텔레비전 프로그램에 공감하고 그것으로부터 위로를 얻는다. '싱글족'으로서 홀로 이 세계에서 살아남기 위한 이 타인들의 삶은 치열하기만 하다. 인간은 그들의 삶 안에서 다른 이들과 의사 소통을 하기 위해 '언어'라는 도구를 만들었다. 바벨탑이 무너진 것도 신神이 인간으로부터 언어를 빼앗아갔기에 가능했다. 그런데 오늘날의 '1인 사회'에서 우리는 우리들 스스로부터 그 언어를 빼앗고 있다. 즉, 다른 사람들과 대화하지 않는다. 우리에게 더 이상 대화는 필요하지 않은 것인가? 하이데거가 이야기한 '본래적 의미의 언어'뿐만 아니라, '뻔한 말'조차도 오늘날의 1인 사회에서는 그 기능을 못하고 있는지 모른다.

이제 우리의 대화는 많은 불협화음을 만들어내고 있으며. 그것이 생기지 않으려면 다른 이의 말을 이해하려 과거보다 더 많은 노력을 해야 한다. 왜냐하면 1인 사회에서는 각자의 삶과 각자의 언어가 '떠다니는 섬'과 같이 표류할 뿐이기 때문이다. 이 전시는 개인주의적인 사회 분위기 속에서의 소통의 중요성에 대한 이야기를 하며, 우리에게 소통과 언어 그리고 공동체의 의미를 생각해보게끔 한다. ● 이 전시에 참여하는 두 작가는 오늘날 우리 사회가 개인주의를 받아들이는 모습을 보여준다. 이지현은 개인주의로 인해 소외된 이들의 아픔에 대한 메시지를 회화적 언어로 표현한다. 우는 얼굴, 주먹들, 그리고 텍스트 등으로 작가가 경험하고 관찰한 개인주의 속의 어둠을 적나라게 보여준다. 유목연은 개인주의 사회라는 우리의 현실에서 전시장이라는 공간을 하나의 작은 소통의 장으로 바꾸는 퍼포먼스를 진행한다. 그는 전시공간 안에 관객들이 차 한잔을 같이 마실 수 있는 공간을 만들고 차 한잔을 권하는 행위를 통하여 '타인과의 낯선 대화'를 이끌어낸다. ● 개인주의 사회의 문제점과 해결방법을 제시하는 두 작가의 작업을 한 공간에서 보여주는 본 전시는 오늘날 우리의 삶의 모습과 소통의 방법들을 표현한 작품들로부터 우리는 공동체 안에서의 삶의 의미를 생각하고, 우리들 각자의 치열했던 삶을 위로 받을 수 있는 기회가 될 것이다. ■ 장서희

■ Healing MOSAIC 대한민국은 어느덧 세계 13위의 경제 대국이 되었다. BBC의 한 기사에서는 한국이 2020년에 세계 5대 경제 대국 안에 들어갈 것이라고 전망하고 있다. 1970년대 초에 '잘 살아보세'라는 구호를 내건 새마을 운동이 시작된 후 반세기만에 우리는 이러한 비약적인 성장을 이루어낸 것이다. ● 그렇다면 우리의 삶의 질 또한 그러한 성장을 이루었을까? 우리가 느끼는 행복 또한 그만큼 커졌을까? 아니다. 오늘날 우리의 삶의 질과 행복은 오히려 위로를 받아야 할 정도로 피폐해져 있다. 그것을 반증이라도 하듯이 최근에 '치유(흔히 힐링healing이라 이야기되는 정신적 치유)', '명상', 그리고 '자연' 등이 사회적으로 큰 화두가 되고 있다. 고도의 경제성장을 위해 달려온 우리 사회는 '치유'가 필요한 정도로 인간 정신에 문제를 일으켰고, '명상'이 필요한 정도로 정서적 불안을 야기했으며, 또 '자연'을 그리워해야 할 정도로 주변 환경을 어지럽혀 놓았다. 이제 우리의 삶은 위로를 필요로 하고 있다. ●「LIG ART SPACE 한남_STUDIO L」개관전시인『Healing MOSAIC』는 오늘날 우리 사회가 필요로 하는 '힐링Healing'을 주제로 제시하면서, 예술작품과 예술적 경험을 통해 그 치유가 이루어질 수 있는 시간과 공간을 만드는 것을 목표로 한다. 따라서 오늘날 예술적 위로가 필요한 우리의 삶의 모습을 세 가지 파트로 나누어 보여준다. ● 1부 | 상처 바라보기 - 정현 홍상현 / 2부 | 타인과 타인의 대화 - 유목연 이지현 / 3부 | 피터팬 신드롬 - 손현수 전병철 ● 이 세가지 테마는 모두 2인전의 형태로 구성되는데, 각각의 전시에 참여하는 작가들은 모두 다른 장르의 표현을 하는 작가들이다. 그리고 각 테마는 젊은 작가와 중견 작가로 구성되며, 세대와 장르를 넘나드는 그들의 표현들은 그것을 바라보는 우리로 하여금 우리 삶의 모자이크를 조립하는 예술적 상상력을 불러일으키게끔 할 것이다. 그리고 이 과정에서 우리는 우리의 삶을 성찰하고 그것으로부터 세대를 아우르는 위로를 받을 수 있을 것이다.

Part 2_Conversation between Two Others-Yoo Mokyon_Lee Jihyun ● "Typical words are 'their' words, i.e. words of daily dasein, or inauthentic dasein. In other words, they are words heard, spoken, and 'shared' (SZ, s. 120) when dasein as an existence in the world meets with others in the 'workplace' (SZ, s. 120) within the association of tools. Therefore, these words are not always negative and never trivial, since they inauthentically open up and clarify dasein as a being in the world. These words dominate and form the whole world of our daily life" – Hong Jin-gi (Doctor of Philosophy, Yonsei University Department of Philosophy) ● Today, it is as if our society consists of multiple one-man societies gathered together. People empathize with and are comforted by TV programs like "I Live Alone." Their desire to survive in this world as singles is fierce. Humans have invented a tool called 'language' in order to communicate with others in life. The Tower of Babel was destroyed because God deprived humans of language. But in today's one-man society, we are depriving ourselves of language. In other words, we do not speak with others. Do we no longer need conversations? Perhaps not just 'language in the authentic sense,' as stated by Heidegger, but even 'typical words' are not functioning properly in today's one-man society. ● Now our conversations are generating much discord, and we must make further effort to understand what other people are saying in order to prevent such discord. This is because in a one-man society, the lives and language development of each individual are drifting like a 'floating island.' This exhibition talks about the importance of communication in the individualistic social atmosphere and makes us think about the meaning of communication, language, and community. ● The two artists participating in this exhibition show us how our society today accepts individualism. Lee Jihyun expresses the messages of pain from people isolated by individualism, using a picturesque language. The artist plainly displays the darkness of individualism experienced and observed by herself, using a crying face, fists and texts. Yoo Mokyon gives a performance of transforming the exhibition space of our reality of an individualistic society into a small venue for communication. He creates a space for the visitors to enjoy a cup of tea in the exhibition area, and draws out 'unfamiliar conversations with others' by offering a cup of tea. ● This exhibition shows the works of two artists in one space, presenting the problems and solutions of the individualistic society. It will provide a good opportunity for us to think about the meaning of life in the community by looking at the works that portray the aspects of our life today as well as methods of communication, and to be comforted by the fierce lives that we all individually have. ■ Sahie Zang

■ Healing MOSAIC South Korea has become the 13th largest economy in the world. A BBC article forecasts that South Korea will be one of the top 5 economic powers by 2020. After only half a century since the early 1970s Saemaul Movement (New Village Movement) under the slogan "Let's live better," South Korea has achieved extraordinary growth. ● Then, has the quality of our lives also achieved such rapid growth? Has the happiness we feel increased relatively? No. Our quality of life and happiness have rather become so exhausted in the efforts to achieve economic success that we must be comforted. In response, the concepts of 'healing' (spiritual), 'meditation,' and 'nature' have recently emerged as important in our lives. Having struggled through a remarkable economic growth, our societal pressure has caused so many problems to the human souls that need 'healing', emotional anxieties that need 'meditation', and so many disruptions to the environment that people long for 'nature'. Now, we are in need of comfort in our lives. ● 'Healing Mosaic,' the opening show of the LIG ART SPACE Hannam, presents the theme of 'healing' that our society needs today. The goal of the exhibition is to create time and space where such healing can received through the appreciation of artwork and by enjoying artistic experiences. Accordingly, the exhibition divides the aspects of our lives that need artistic consolation into three parts. ● Part 1 | Looking at Scars—Chung Hyun, Hong Sanghyun / Part 2 | Conversation between Two Others—Yoo Mokyon, Lee Jihyun / Part 3 | Peter Pan Syndrome—Son Hyunsoo, Jeon Byeongcheol ● These three themes are all in the form of duo exhibitions, and the artists participating in each of them are involved in different genres. Each theme is portrayed by a pair of a young artist and a veteran artist. Their expressions, crossing over generations and genres, will arouse our artistic imagination in assembling the mosaics of our lives. In this process, we will be able to reflect on our lives and bring comfort to all generations of our time.
