이 시대의 비극 중 하나는 알맹이는 빠진 채 현상과 사물이 이미지화 되는 것이다. 우리는 현실의 생생한 감각을 통해 전달되는 무수한 본질은 뒤로 한 채, 쉽게 받아 드려지지만 내용은 텅 빈 추상적인 정보들을 받아드리는데 익숙해져 있다. ● 인쇄술과 사진술이 발달하면서 회화가 가진 원본의 아우라는 위기를 겪었다. 과거의 이슈가 다량의 복제와 오리지날리티 사이의 문제였다면, 오늘날의 이슈는 아마도 편리한 정보공유에 따른 이미지의 이동성과 이에 조응하는 '회화의 이미지화' 일 것이다. 또한 현대의 많은 작가들이 이미 생산된 이미지를 캔버스로 옮겨 재 이미지화 하는 작업을 수없이 내놓고 있다.

이러한 상황에서 '아는 만큼 보인다', '예술작품 읽기' 의 방법론을 기반으로 한 대중예술서들은 개념미술 이후에 접근하기 쉽고, 매우 보편적인 감상법을 제시하는 듯 보이나 한편으론, 관객들의 시각적 감각을 마비시키고, 작품의 감상을 학습이나 논리적인 이해에 의존 하도록 하는데 기여하였다. ● 회화는 이제 현대미술에서 작가의 신체성과 가장 밀접한 장르일 것이다. 바로 이점이 소비되는 이미지와 회화의 대척점에 있는 가장 큰 차이 일 것이다. 이번 김진 과 오용석의 2인전을 통해 화폭 위에 머무르는 호흡과 에너지, 붓질에 의한 번짐과 시각적 불확실성이 주는 자유의 증폭, '무엇'에 해당하는 간결하고 명확한 정답이 아닌, 색과 형과 질감의 총체로 작용하는 개연성들의 실험을 마음껏 즐기기를 바라며, 그려진 것의 기호를 넘어서 회화의 표면 위에서 마주하는 흥미진진한 감각의 환기를 기대한다. One of the tragedies of this time is the fact that phenomenon and real objects are turning into images, excluding the substance within. We leave out the countless essence conveyed through vivid sense of reality and have become used to taking information that is easily accommodated by empty abstract information in the contents. Due to the development of printing and photography, the essential aura of painting encountered crisis. If issues in the past consisted of problems regarding massive amounts of duplication and originality, the current issue is most likely related to the mobility of images following the convenient sharing of information and 'imagining of painting' which is also caused by the above. Additionally, many modern artists are proposing numerous works which images are already produced and that are moved onto canvas and turned into re-imagining. ● Amidst of these situations, a popular form of art methodologies which base on methodologies such as 'you can see just as much as you know', 'reading artworks' are easy to approach after conceptual art, and it seems as if very common appreciation method is suggested, but it actually benumbed the visual sense of viewers and led to the harmful outcome and let them the appreciation of works be logical understanding. ● In modern art, painting is probably the genre that is closest to the identity of artists in physical aspects.
