거미줄 잣기

예술가가 '정서를 표현한다'는 것은 '예술가의 특정 감정의 특징적 측면을 보여주는 것을 의미'한다고 콜링우드(Collingwood)는 말한다. 예술가의 감정 상태가 하나의 작품이라는 의미이다. 이와 같이, 나의 창작 활동은 내적감정 세계를 형상화하는 것이다. 초기 작업「너의 뒤에서 Behind you」와「너를 위하여 For you」는 사실주의적 방식에 추상적 표현을 겹합시켜 하이힐, 선물 상자라는 사물을 사실주의적 방식에 추상적 표현을 겹합시켜 묘사한 것이다. 대상을 통한 사실적 묘사는 통속적 재현이 아닌 본인이 사물을 바라보는 방식으로써 또 다른 자화상이다.

일상 생활 속에서 보고, 듣고, 느끼고 생각하는 것을 레이스의 모습으로 그려나간 것은「내가 좋아하는 것을 My favorite thing」연작과「유토포스- U-Topos」으로 이어졌다. 내가 보여주고 싶은 세상에 대한 생각을 이미지화 하고, 그 실루엣을 통해 또 다시 세계를 만든다. 감정을 레이스로 표현하는 것은 이전 작업의 방식 즉, 사물의 선택에 의한 사실주의적 표현과는 다른 방식으로서 또 다른 도전이 되었다. 선의 반복된 겹침은 아무리 캔버스의 면을 다 채우려 해도 메꾸어지지 않는다. 오히려 선을 통해 자유로운 상상력에 의한 내면의 표현이 가능해지는 것이다. ■ 박제경

All entities are linked with lines so mutual communication is possible in their realm of essence, the very concept of which takes form with lace creating the most idealistic world, representing harmonious connectivity in the world. Through this, as well as getting a general direction of my work, I also got the opportunity to search for other formative significance behind these lace lines. One of the formal characteristics that are visually expressed in my works is line drawing. This technique does not stop at being purely decorative with the lace's patterns, but it embodies the inner world. Also, through the space created by the movement and overlap of the lace lines, it gives us a glimpse of an idealistic world that does not exist in reality. One chunk of lace is an entity that represents another world that I am thinking of. So the lace lines form complex imagery that works as crucial medium to visualize utopia. I feel it is possible to gaze into an imaginative and intuitive inner side through thin lines. To this end, in my work「U-Topos」, I depict utopian images in an imaginative fashion, and with this I attempt to rediscover the dream of the human kind which has been lost in the modern society, through finding inner utopia. ■ PARKJEKYOUNG
