아트 스튜디오 '파라디조' (ART STUDIO 'PARADISO') 에서는 2015년 5월 2일부터 8일까지 스튜디오를 오픈하는 시간을 갖는다. 본 스튜디오에서는 지난해 7월 첫 번째 오픈스튜디오『on my way』를 성공적으로 마친 이후, 5명의 2기 입주 작가들을 모집하였다. 이번 오픈 스튜디오 역시 2기 입주 작가들이 직접 기획하였으며, 자신들의 작업 공간과 그간의 작업을 공개하는 두 번째 기획전이라 할 수 있다. 본 전시 타이틀은『지고 난 자리』이다. 5월은, 꽃들의 향연이 펼쳐진 후 비로소 만물이 생동하기 시작하는 시기라 할 수 있다. 꽃이 피고 져버린 아쉬움을 달래듯, 푸르른 잎사귀들이 그 자리를 대신한다. 이와 마찬가지로 이번 오픈스튜디오에서는 작가들 각자의 자리에서 작업을 통해 무엇이 지고 무엇이 그 자리를 대신하며 앞으로 나아가는지를 되짚어보는 시간을 갖는다.

한정석 작가는 이번 오픈 스튜디오를 통해, 아스팔트 이미지 위에 뜸을 뜬 신작「지고 난 자리(in between)」를 선보인다. 이를 통해 누군가와 함께 걸으며 보았던, 벚꽃 잎 떨어진 밤길을 새롭게 구현한다.

윤지현 작가는 자신의 감정을 단순화된 형상을 통해 한국화로 표현한다. 작가의 작품 전반에 등장하고 있는 "원뿔"은 독립적으로 존재하는 생명체인 동시에 끊임없이 작가의 삶에 침투하는 외부세력이기도 하다. 감자전분처럼 잡힐 듯 잡히지 않는 물질로 이루어진 '그 녀석'은 마음껏 돌아다니며 여기저기 흔적을 남긴다. 그러나 아이러니 하게도 '보기에 너무나도 흉측하여 방 안에 꼭꼭 숨겨 놓고 싶다고' 생각한 그 녀석은, 그녀의 내적인 요인에 기인한다.

"그리고 이 원뿔은 이상하다. 보편적으로 '이상하다'라고 말 할 수 있는 결정적인 이유는 바로 거꾸로 서있다는 것이다. 그 역시 넓은 면을 밑으로 향하게 서있는 것을 바른 자세라고 칭하곤 하지만, 그는 항상 거꾸로 얼굴을 쳐 박은 채 존재한다. 그리고 이 자세가 그리 편하지는 않은지 연속 불편한 표정으로 중심을 잡을 곳을 향해 찾아다니면서, 나와 또 다른 성정을 지닌 인과관계를 발생시키며 주변부를 얼쩡거린다." (윤지현)

전초롱 작가는, 이번 오픈 스튜디오를 통해, '어쩌면 당신의 고양이' 시리즈를 선보인다. sns를 통해 자신의 삶을 기록하고 보여주는 대중의 욕구에 관심을 둔 작가는, 넘쳐나는 sns 상의 이미지들 중에서도 고양이 이미지에 관심을 갖는다. '내 고양이가 제일 귀엽다'라며 자랑하듯 올라오는 이미지를 작가는 몰래 자신의 화면 안에 담아낸다. 작가의 '주관성'에 의해 재창조된 고양이들은 누군가의 고양이라는 구속에서 벗어나 '보편성'을 획득한다. 그리고 작가는 말한다. 지금 당신이 보고 있는 이 고양이가, '사실은 어쩌면 당신의 고양이 일수도 있습니다.' 라고. ■ 아트 스튜디오 파라디조

Art studio (ART STUDIO 'PARADISO') has the time to open a studio from May 2, 2015 until Monday. After successfully completing the first Open Studio 'On My Way' in July of last year, this studio recruited five second-time artists-in-residence. The Open Studio on this occasion was similarly planned personally by the second-time artists-in-residence and it can be said to be their second special exhibition that unveils their work space and their works in the intervening period. The title of this exhibition is 'In Between.' It can be said that May is the time when only after the flowers have spread their banquets, all creation starts to move with life. As when one gives consolation for the regret of flowers blooming and dying, in each of the artist's places, time is taken through the works to retrace what has died and what will take its place and go forward. ● The artist Han Jeong-seok will show through the Open Studio on this occasion, "In Between," his new work where moxa has been applied on top of an image in asphalt. Through this, he realizes anew a night path that one walked together with someone and where cherry blossom petals had fallen. ● The artist Yoon Ji-hyun makes an expression in terms of Korean painting through the state of simplification of her emotions. The "cone" that features in the whole of the artist's works is at once a living body that exists independently and an outside force that invades the artist's life.'That Guy' that is realized in a substance that seems as if it could be held like potato starch but does not roams about to its heart's content and leaves traces everywhere. However, that guy who thought, 'It looks ever so horrible that I want to keep it securely hidden in a room' ironically has its origins in her inner elements. ● "Plus, this cone is strange. The decisive reason that it can universally be said to be 'strange' is precisely because it is standing upside down. Standing with its broad side facing the bottom can similarly often be named the right position, but it always exists upside down with its face driven in. Plus, as if this position is not that comfortable, it searches about constantly with an uncomfortable expression on its face, heading towards a place where it can find its center. It gives rise to human relations that bear a nature that is different from mine and hangs about in the peripheries." (Yoon Ji-hyun) ● The artist Kim Kyoung Won spreads out before reality her past memories that were not just comfortable through a variety of media. The work process that reveals her personal history that could be sensitive 'objectifies' 'pain' and is also an expression of her will to move forward. ● "Alfred Adler says that trauma does not exist. The present state becomes decided according to what meaning one assigns to the past. My work assigns the meaning called 'sadness' to my past experience and it is the story of the time that I myself chose to be sad." (Kim Gyeong-won) ● The artist Kwon Mi-jung adopts the work method of catching bright silhouettes from within a dark screen. The screen's darkness that permeates strongly plays the role of catching various emotional lines according to the artist's intentions. ● "Showing beauty - The thing that exposes the emotions within me is the only thing that makes me look at myself. In the state of having been drawn elegantly inside my picture, darkness is confronting me." (Kwon Mi-jung) ● The artist Jeon Cho-rong unveils through the Open Studio on this occasion the series, 'Maybe Your Cat.' The artist who has placed her interest in the public's desire which is recording and showing their lives through SNS, takes an interest in the image of the cat among the overflowing images on SNS. The artist places in secret inside her screen the images that come up as if boasting saying, 'My cat is the cutest.' These cats that are created out of the artist's 'sense of duty' have been freed from the constraints of being somebody's cats and acquire a 'universality.' Plus, the artist says the following. She says the cat that you see now 'could maybe actually be your own cat.' ■ ART STUDIO PARADISO
